My mom's name was violet! She liked those too, but was especially in love with lilacs. Thank you for reading and for your kind words.

isnt that. sweet?! her name was violet. how pretty. my mom's name was dorothy, i dedicated fanstory award to her that I received. The poem is " Follow The Yellow Brick Road". I'd be honored if you read it.

Dear Mystery Writer, (--wink--)

I really like this piece. It's funny, I just wrote a poem about lilacs myself! They are indeed cool flowers and their scent is so heady!

Your syllables are all just right and I love the element of having Mom with you as part of your memories of lilacs. Makes them even more special. Thank you and good luck!

Hello anonymous

Lovely entry for the

Lilacs are beautiful flowers and you have a lovely memory of your mom

This 5-7-5, Lilacs, has the right set up and reminds us all, I think, and our parents. Lilac bushes were the staple of a happy home.

I love everything about this poem! The presentation, the alliteration, the fact that it's making me forget about winter! Well done lady! I think this should do very well in the contest! Good luck!

Author this is a terrific poem. The lilacs are such scented flowers and for them to return memories of you picking them with your mother is wonderful.

Wishing you much luck with the voters.

Quite a very touching, sentimental poem along with those wonderful flowers that I could smell and causes me to see a past as well. A well enjoyed poem. Thanks for sharing.

Nostalgia exudes from this beautiful write.

I was a little thrown by "send scents" in the first line. Perhaps you might consider setting aside the alliteration in favour of a verb like "breathe"?

Good luck in the contest.

Blessings Julia

Thank you for reading. It's kind of a tongue twister I'll admit...but I kind of like the way it sounds. Thanks again for the review. :)

This is a sweet poem that meets the flower haiku format very well. You hear that a lot, that flowers remind us of our mothers. Scientists say the sense of smell is the most potent and oldest of the senses.
This is a strong entry for the contest. Good luck.
