I only just saw this....

-Very interesting constructs and ruminations.
-Well plotted, inciting events and enrapturing to readers.
A very nice period poem, with atmospheric detailing. No mistaking the Hallows Eve flare and fervour with absolutely the right portions of gruesome detailing.

Hello Marien, thank you for your lovely review. I wrote this a few years ago and thought since it is Halloween week, it would be fun to repost it. So glad you like it.

This poem, Hallow's Eve, is a fun parody of the famous Poe poem and touched with a bit of humor to help the readers get a jolly giggle out of the scene.

Hi Bill. Thank you. I am delighted that you (a poet with a fantastic sense of humor) saw the little fun quirks in this piece. I wrote it a few years ago and thought that since it is Halloween week, I would repost it. Glad you like it, my friend.

Neat! You kept Poe's rhythm going there, and told a scary Halloween story in poetry!
I liked the reference to Poe's raven, and your little nod to the effect the "amber sipping" may have had on your observations (Or were they illusions?), and perhaps caused by
"mental strain."
Good work,
irish

Congrats on your win for this creepy whimsy! Glad I caught up to this--an ambitious undertaking in fine rhyme! Startling and fresh imagery throughout.

Sugarray!
Oh I must admit dear poet- this was an absolute gem. If I had had another star left over I would have given it a six!
I really fell into the story here- and was captured by the flow of the words and imagery! A contest winner for sure!
Well done and you just put another whole layer of "scary" to next years Halloween night!
Sammielwf.

This would definitely be right up Poe's alley with its odd, eerie yet mysterious vibe. It's well-written, interesting, your great word choice paints a frightening picture in the reader's mind.

Hi Misty. Thank you, sweet friend. I was inspired by the Nod to Poe contest last week and reread The Raven. That trochaic beat got stuck in my head and I just went with it. LOL. I always value your opinion!! Thanks again.

I like your rendition of the Nod to Poe and your making it into a Halloween poem. I read The Raven by Poe and realize why you are using the similar structure, rhyming scheme and meter.

You did an exceptional job.

I want to enter for the Halloween story and need to hurry up.

The author's words are interesting, clear and creative. I found these
words reminding me of Halloween Night! I think 'll go back and read
the "Raven"! The artwork goes well with the words and theme of this poem. Enjoyed the read of this poem!.....Maria

I haven't read Poe in a while, Melissa, but he is good on those cold nights under the moon. :) Like-- as it slitter on the sidewalk seeing shadows in the night sideway glances made me stutter at it's horrid sight. You know, I feel a little mordid myself. Thank you for sharing. This is a good offering for the Halloween poetry.

Thank you very much, Jose. I loved your punny review about sidewalks slithering in the shadows. Haha. So fun. Glad you liked the Nod to Poe verse. :)
