-Great artwork, Melissa.
-Glad you were inspired
by that contest; that
was my motivation, too:)
-I love your version; it
is spot on with the meter,
images, and story.
-It was a lot of fun to read.
-I really like the first verse
with the Scottish brogue and
"utters of the most profane."
"Crazy bird has gone insane."
-Excellent poem!!

Hi Pam. Thank you. I must admit that I greatly admire Poe for The Raven.... not for story, but for the sheer work it took to get it right in so many stanzas. The rhymes, meter, line length, etc. ... took me several days. :) Thanks again!

You are very welcome, Melissa. I enjoy Poe's works and had a lot of fun teaching them to 9th grade students. I would say several days is record time; I wouldn't even attempt that!

This post is so well done and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It had an easy flow to it and I don't know if you were following some style of poetry or making up your own, it was good. Great job.

Hi Annie. Thank you for your wonderful comments. I had seen the FS contest... Nod to Poe and reread The Raven. I tried to follow that meter and rhyme scheme. It was fun. Thanks again.
