Wow. This was a compelling and spellbinding piece of work. You had me on the edge of my seat. I liked the references to the different songs playing on the jukebox, it added ambiance to the pool playing joint. You stayed in character well, the whole way through, and gave an interesting performance, to the ending of the story. The story left me feeling a little empty, like there was no message to take away, from it. I admit that there needn't be a message but, I suppose I expected one. Well written and intriguing. I found no fault with any of the storytelling. Thank you for sharing.
Take care,
Jesse

Thank you for the awesome review, Jesse. Yeah, there wasn't really much of a plot or anything to take away from it. Just a silly vampire story for the contest. All the songs and little add ins was me trying to add a little humor with them being something related to vampires. Lol. I appreciate the generous stars and great review, friend. I'm glad you liked it even though it didn't really lead to anywhere. Have a great day, Jesse.

Great story...you really took your "cue" and ran with it. I like the characters, the conversation, the creative music, and the pace. Very realistic non-reality. Sounded a bit like Philip Marlow.

A wickedly witty treat--a fresh change from the vampire depictions typical of the genre--inserting song titles--so clever--stunning imagery and masterful narration.

Thank you for the great review and stars, Elizabeth. Yes, the same old, 'I'm going to bite your neck' runs its course too often. I had to go a different route. Lol. I'm glad you liked my little story.

LOL! I was thinking about entering this one -- goodness knows it was a detour from the norm! ;) :) Great offering except that now you've got half (or more ) of those songs running through my head!! (not even joking, sir)... ;) Thanx for sharing and best of luck at the polls! ;) Yvette

Yeah, I had to put songs in there that would be on a 'vampire' jukebox. Lol. Thank you for the fantastic review, Yvette. I'm glad you had a chuckle at my silly little offering. Yes, a detour from the norm is always welcome. I hope all is well on your end.

I like your story.
I especially like that you gave us the tunes that were playing on the juke box. I know and like most of them and it really helped to make the reader feel like he/she was there in the bar...very nice touch.
I can remember nights in bars like this. Of course, to my knowledge, no one was killed. :)
I thought her character was pretty well drawn for a short piece. I particularly like the surprise ending. I surely didn't see it coming and it was satisfying.
Good job.

This story kept my attention even if I do not nothing about the pool, the game. The action kept me going, I liked the bloody Mary, hold the Mary! oh dear, I am still smiling. Quite a chick...

Ha! Love the ending on this! Years ago I was on a women's pool league and I really enjoyed it. Good story with what you had to work with. Try to remember 3 weeks from now that you entered this. Great art!

This girl does not take prisoners! I have never played pool, but it's great seeing women play and beat the men. I play chess and I was on a cruise once where a couple of members of the onboard chess club kept asking me to play. I kept saying no and one day at a loose end I agreed to play one of the best players in the team. I was sure I would lose. Half way through the game he lost one of his castles and it was looking like I was going to win. I decided to give him a draw as my end game is a bit dodgy and I saved his disgrace among the team and they never once asked me to play again! Ha ha ha. Your story reminded me of how powerful women can be and how men always think they are the best at everything, ha ha ha, I enjoyed this one very much, love Dolly x

Thank you for the fantastic review, Dolly. I actually play chess, too. I used to be pretty good but I haven't played in a long time. I'm watching this series on Netflix about a girl who plays chess so I broke out my chess video game and played a couple matches. And the computer totally kicked my butt. lol I really appreciate the gracious stars and great comments. I'm glad you liked this silly little piece. I hope you have a great weekend.

I am tempted to say 'What the bloody hell!' The only things missing were the garlic and the crucifix. That wouldn't have been a problem in UK right now. Another stick in two would have the crucifix sorted (use his shoelaces in one of those girl guide lashings to make it secure. The place wouldn't be open any more unless it sold food under the covid-19 rules so there has to be a kitchen and no kitchen worth anything would be without garlic.

Lol. Thank you for the great review, Pantygynt. Yeah, I was trying to figure out a way to get garlic in the story but the word count limit kept me from doing so. I really appreciate the generous stars, friend. I'm glad you liked my little offering. Have a great rest of your weekend.
