This is excellent. You have of course outlined a series of character traits that it is hard for a single person to live up to totally. Doubtless that is why good leaders are thin on the ground.

I actually have fourteen leadership traits in mind, but these are the hardest to find in one place.

I also consider youth (but not too much of it) critical to provide necessary energy - thus leadership falters in the end. Huge problem. What do we do with the decrepit hulls of all the worn-out leaders?

A very well-written 2-10-2 poem about the difference between a boss and a leader. Anyone can be a boss but not everyone can be a good leader who encourages and guides tactfully.

This is a poignant write and leading people is an art and we can only do it with their cooperation and bullying never works and has the reverse effect, loves you words here, love Dolly x

This is a Nicely written 2-10-2 descriptive poem for leader. I like your photo to go with your words as well. Well done. Good luck with the contest.

LOL, the only problem with this is your graphic. The Boss guy's team is winning the race and the leader's team is losing.

That said, I agree to a certain point and your perspective is clearly indicated for the contest.

Wishing you much luck in the booth. :))

I think the coxswain is overdressed as well. I would have elaborated on leadership, but fourteen syllables don?t go as far as they used to. : )

How-to leader's manual short and to the point--you pegged it--clever touch to end in tactful--unexpected!--certainly apt. Nice work for a brief form. Good luck.

Hi Mystery Poet,

I can tell you took a great deal of time thinking about what a leader means to you. You took these words that came to mind and put them into a poem with a very specific format, 2-10-2. It works well to deliver your message and to be a delight to the reader.

Have a great week,
Rhonda

Your 20 syllables listing the desirable qualities of leadership, and accompanying picture, are so true. Let's hope the next leader can live up to these attributes. We had a perfect example of the opposite for the past few years.
(I think the 'leader' holding the telescope is looking the wrong way. Rowers usually face backwards to the direction they are going. If they were paddles rather than oars it'd be OK.)

As far as I know it is just 2-10-2.
