I might have swapped the first and third lines around, but what the hell - you won the contest and that is all that really matters at the end of the day! Congratulations on that first place.

That would have worked too. Thanks so much for reading my poem. :)

Your poem captured the general situation of families at this moment of economic hardship. It spoke volume in quite a few words within the restrictions of the contest entry. The rhyming was equally perfect. Great job!

Nice. Gotta say I hate the format. What's next, a two syllable poem? Only the god of writing prompts will ever know. Having said that, you nailed this one. Good luck in the contest - DJ

Thanks, I agree. I usually write longer poems, but lately I've been trying the short ones🙄...lol. Thanks again for reading.

This 1-6-1, Empty Pockets, has the right set up and states the sad truth that our funds have come under a tight squeeze with the slowed down economy.

Good attempt. But does store and poor rhyme? Not sure about that. But I guess others believe it does. So I guess I'm in the minority on this one. I guess if you stretch it poor it might be pronounced pour. Enjoy your work.

Thanks for reading my poem. I honestly think all three words rhyme, I guess it depends on how you pronounce it. Have a great day and stay safe.

Guess you are correct, it is in the pronunciation and I guess I'm in the minority on this site.

Reality sometimes brings lessons that we probably do not know how to learn from them. But they are right there: just to teach us. When we all learn at the same time, the same thing, like now with the COVID, we are all in the same line of evolution. Your poem shows a radiography of our internal feelings and your description hits all of us in the same point. Great artwork!

All elements here. Well matched drawing and color combo for subject of text. A bit stark, gray, no bright colors. Just the basics in the drawing and in the wording. Simple, punchy, straight to the point. Most readers can relate.

Yes, I can remember when I wasn't a millionaire! :))))

Solid contest entry.

Yup! Appreciate you were able to capture current reality and include 3 rhymes in those 8 words
and adhere to the short syllable count. Very talented work indeed.

Excellent use of the 1-6-1 syllables slotted using them with an effective use of photography demonstrating the point of the message. Best of Luck to you in the contest. Prayer s for All to Receive of Needs and our Wants are for the things that truly enrich our Lives.

Poverty is rife at the moment and more people will suffer because of the economy just now. Not being able to buy food is a sad state of affairs, you highlighted people's plight here, love Dolly x

It's hard all over I think, we lost all 6 of our paper routes because of covid, which gave us a surprising good income each month. We had done them for 30+ years but because of the pandemic they went digital. Now we struggle like so many others. I just hope it ends soon. Thanks again for reading.
