A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about gossip between friends can become a hot fanning flame that spreads like a wildfire through a community and seems unstoppable.

Hello anonymous

Great entry for the 5-7-5 writing prompt contest.
Goodd syllables count and connection between lines. The presentation works well. The topic about gossiping is a fine choice. Good luck in the contest.

This is an excellent metaphor. You've used several literary techniques. Your alliteration is effective. The s's especially create the atmosphere and tone. I like your wordplay. This has a dual cautionary tale and tongue-in-cheek humor. It reminds me of a new young singer Grace VanderWaal who wrote and sings Gossip Girl.

Thanks for your thoughtful review, and for introducing me to Grace VanderWaal's song.

This 5-7-5, Fanning the Flames, has the right set up and seems to suggest that the madness of BS going around doesn't need much of a spin to hit the fan.

Good presentation. The picture goes well with your write and it speaks the truth about gossip for sure. Gossip causes so many issues with people not only within families ut also with co-workers, kids etc..

Thank you. Gossip is a scourge for spreading private information, embroidering half-truths, or telling outright lies.

Hi Mystery Poet,
The tongue is a small member of the body, but it can do a lot of damage. In your poem, you've nicely explained how "breezy/small talk" can quickly become a "gust" of "inflaming hot air"...."gossip's gust", I like that. Nice alliteration, too.
I count the correct syllables.
Good Luck in the contest!
Cheers,
Kimbob

Gossip is bad news or gust. The flames will heat up if there is gossip. And if people like to listen to small talk, it will sometimes feed that flame so the gossip lingers on, even though it might not be true.

This is a scene that is, no doubt familiar to us all.
I like to think teenage girls and young women eventually grow out of this, but some don't. I'm a girl but I was never like that.
Hot air, breezy and gust all work wonderfully as weather images and also contribute to the gossip theme.
Very well done.
Good luck in the contest.

I hate gossip and try to nip it in the bud when others want to tell me something about somebody else in a snarky or malicious way.

Here you go again--blowing WIND and fanning FIRE (=two-thirds of a 70s insipid soft-rock group.) Fine choice of synonyms air/breeze gust--and gossip for alliteration.

I just love your 5-7 - 5 The poem has a deep meaning and an interesting cadence: hot air - small talk - gossip's gust. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.
