Excellent work, tempeste. I could have deduced for your previous writings that you are afraid of germs. You mention several things that bring out your fear of those germs, like handshakes and kisses. Humorous bit about preferring to pee outdoors than use a public toilet. (I agree they can be pretty creepy at times.) Excellent use of occasional rhyme, such as accessory and necessity. You sound like Monk in the TV series! Very enjoyable. judi

Monk sounds about right .. ( biggrin)

It was free style but I noticed that others do insert here and there a bit of rhyme ..

As for peeing behind a tree ..that part is true .. I remember it happened in winter once and pa stopped near a clump of greenery .. that time I produced even steam ( laugh)

Delightful free verse. I think your rhyme worked in beautifully. We're all obsessed about germs with the virus amongst us. judi

    Thank Judi!

I need to read more in English and enrich my vocabulary .. my mamma read a lot in English and had an ocean of books .

Reading your essays I have learnt so much about America?s past history .. they are a delight to read

Looking forward to reading soon a new Heather and Smokey adventure!

    Ciao!

I meant to write that you do marvelously well with your English. My only foreign language is a little bit of French. You do seem to do a lot of reading of English news stories, etc. judi

Yes you have a phobia, a major phobia. I agree about germs when I eat out, won't go to buffet, people cough while in line. At this particular time, no way...buffet...whoops I have a limerick starting.
As covid keeps spreading each day,
I'd love to eat out and I may.
And if I decide.
It will be outside,
And it will not be a buffet.
What do you think?

Where covid is thriving , people should be wearing masks so if they cough ..

I go out once a week for a quick shopping .. then do my usual drill

strip and put clothes in washing machine ,

    have a shower and

    then wash hair.

The idea to eat out just doesn?t even enter my thoughts .. I prefer to prepare my own food ..

Have you ever seen a restaurant kitchen in action ..

Personally, I would wait to eat out

Germaphobia is good fear to have these days. But never hugging or kissing anyone can get lonely. I assume you use your own bathroom but do you use bathrooms in other homes or hotels?
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Happy Holidays.

Like I mentioned I already had this problem about hugging and kissing ( I m Italian and we are a nation of cheek kissers ) and yet by my early 20s I started avoiding to touch or be touched by people including my parents.

Those that know me don t offer me a hand to shake or try to hug me ..

Yes I have my own bathroom .. and now that my parents have passed away, I live on my own..

I have had many pets .. I don t have issues touching them.

So social distancing is not an issue for me ..

    Happy festivities to you too!

It must of been hard for you and your family when you acquired this phobia. It is good that everyone is so respectful of your discomfort,
I guess social distancing would be easy for you.

Well I was in boarding schools from age 6 1/2 to 21

I saw my parents max. two months a year due to their business .. they were always away. ... so we were like strangers when I experienced my first taste of real family life at age 21.

hugs and kisses were scarce..so the change to actually none was hardly noticeable ..

Then 10 years after, my parents went to live in Spain and I stayed home in Italy with the pets .. from then on we only saw each other 6 weeks a year for 16 years when my mother passed away ..

Sold the villa , pa came back to Italy permanently.

I had an odd life and already being a loner by nature made me how I am ..

    Anyways pets are great companions..

Let?s hope the vaccine will give us the upper hand with covid.

    Keep safe!

It's good to get to know your family life.
I guess boarding school is a life long felling of going away to college for the average person. I guess boarding school is one of the things that interupt a regular family life.
