I'm sorry to have missed this, dear Lisa May. A wonderful entry for the Haiku Redo. (That's what I called it.) Really well composed with a timely message.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs....
Congratulations on ending the year in strong form!! :))

I picked up the "leaves of grass" reference immediately, but is this a poem about grass or about the Republican party? It's certainly apropos of both, particularly in their being "spineless" and "testing which way the wind is blowing. Excellent use of verbal imagery, and the picture, of course, is perfect. Good luck in the contest, if it hasn't already been judged. I'm way behind in checking.

Jenny, are you still into Trump and the rep party? :) Just kidding. Many people do bend with the wind and follow the scent of the money. These are they who follow the god of money, the powerful, the rich, and the blind followers. I have the Leaves of grass from Walt, somewhere. This is an excellent entry for the Haikuish tercet.

A very well-written haikuish tercet about bending the knees before false gods leads to the pitts of hell and many are not even aware they are bending before false gods.

-I like your artwork,
presentation, and poem, Lisa.
-Good syllable count and topic.
-Effective imagery and a good message.
-I really like the leaves of grass reference
because it is so much better than a
blade of grass.
-It meant more to me because I
knew it was from Whitman.
-A very good entry; good luck!

LisaMay - This is an excellent poem and I suspect there maybe a subtle camouflaged message referring to certain unnamed politicians in the USA? Or perhaps the past four years have just jaded my perceptions, - Jerry

I like succinctness, and I like the idea of calling out sheeple this poetic analogy of bending with the wind, is a picturesque example of both, added to the fact you nailed the "Haikuish Tercet form" rates this in my mind as exceptional. Well done and good luck with the contest.

Hello, Lisa,

A fine entry for the Haikuish Tercet contest. Your words are well chosen and very poetic. I love the leaves of grass are swayed.

Great entry - just a great piece of writing that teaches us a special lesson.
It is sometimes so much easier to "go along" than to stand for what you believe in. Really nice poetry piece.

Very incisive poetic commentary, LisaMay. I fear that the masses of humanity are as fickle today as they were in the time of Jesus Christ, crying out to make Him King, one week, and to crucify Him, the next. I like your reference to "blades of grass." And the photo is picture perfect.
