At times it seems a brand new year and a chance to make changes is a bit of a cliche, because we have that opportunity all year long. That being said, personally I love the idea that each year we have a stronger push to change the next year for the better. There is one thing to note, I thought the flow could be better in some places, in particular, "you will make new friends,/the new dog is your best friend." Thanks for sharing, overall I enjoyed reading.

This poem was lovely! The form was enjoyable to read and I enjoyed the rhyming that was not just attached to the ends of the lines but also the rhyming sprinkled throughout. The inspiring message here is perfect for the writing prompt entry. Great job!

Thank you, my friend. You make an excellent cheerleading section in the FanStory corner of the internet! And these days? With the virus spreading, civil unrest, insurgency and uncertainty, we need some optimism. I already have a steady supply from the Lord Jesus Christ, but I'll take yours as coming from Him, as well -- for God created all good things, and He created us, to create, to love and to communicate. Great job! I'm looking for my new dog, but for the moment, I will have to wait until we can have one, or look for other people's pooches, to pet -- wood, woof!
And my husband also makes a wonderful best friend, and he's also excellent at being a husband, so... I'm blessed.

Great hopes for the new year with this excellent poem. I hope and pray that this year brings new beginnings, they the Covid vaccine will prove working, and that they stop the life loss.
