Wow, your story is the perfect example that fewer words can sometimes get more said. That a hammer strike to your toe can cause more dance moves than any music. And, an icepick to my heart, can draw me in to see what happens next. Outstanding! Thanks for sharing.

WOW, THAT WAS SO SAD, I WAS WITH YOU THE ENTIRE TIME AND COULD PICTURE HIS DISMAY. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING THAT TRAUMATIC BUT I COULD FEEL THAT POOR SOUL'S TORMENT. HE IS GRIEVING FOR HIS LONELINESS AND MISSING LAYLA FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. THIS IS VERY HARD TO OVERCOME I WOULD IMAGINE. SO SO SAD.

    Thank you. Yes, the lose of your forever-mate is an extremely difficult one. Facing each day, you must start over, one step at a time and not always in a forward direction. Though this isn't my particular story, the grief of losing my husband is most certainly entwined in my writing. Thank you for reading and feeling the emotion I tried to project. Smiles to you!

This is a good short story for the short story contest. It is sad and your picture of the empty boat reflects the sadness in the fact of the missing loved one. Nicely done.

Memories are always with us Some bring us pleasure, others sorrow, regret, guilt, or pain. It is best to not dwell on memories. Learn to forgive one's self too.

I wasn't expecting to be so heartbroken but that indicates a wonderfully told story. As somber as it is, this story tells the truth about grief. Time doesn't always heal everything

Love is beautiful and also blind, author. Nothing really matters when one is heavenly entwined in the arms of the one you love. Blind to all surroundings people get lost. This is an excellent offering for the Short Short Contest. Thank you for sharing.
