I know you don't need these 6 stars because I think you have already won the contest. BUT I had to get my 2 cents worth in. What a remarkable piece. All those sad facts put together, oh my. There are some who do not believe the facts, they think that was a fantasy. I remember seeing that picture with Ike and all those bodies. The only consolation is many were killed quickly, I don't think they suffered much, wasn't that kind of Adolph.
PS Ike told them to take lots of pictures for definite proof.
Many people hated the Germans because they knew what was going on, but what were they to do if they resisted they were killed also and many had families.

Thanks so much for reading and for this wonderful 6 star review. I actually came in second in the contest, which is great since there were many fine entries. I agree with all you say and you make a good point about the people of Germany...what could they really do? I have read a lot about WW2 because my father was a soldier stationed in England and my mother was a young nurse in London who lived through the bombing. It's where they met. I just want to tell you how much I appreciate you reading my poems and all the help you have given me, it means a lot. Thank you. :)

Down the long ladder of history, there are differing levels of horror in murderous campaigns against ethnic minorities.
Deliberate state sponsored genocide is rare, though the scope is often staggering, as in the Nazi final solution. Hitler's extermination program began as soon as could consolidate his office as chancellor in 1933 with the identification of undesirables and their systematic elimination.
Few know of the internal deportation of significant ethnic groups done by Stalin after the German invasion in June 1941. The largest group forced into exile was the Volga German colony brought to Russia by the German Princess Sophia who became Catherine the Great (1762 until 1796). Overnight, the NKVD drove these peoples from their homes. They were loaded into cattle cars and abandoned, under guard, with no resources in the far reaches of Siberia. Thousands died of starvation and exposure. Curiously, Helene Fischer, an award winning pop singer in Germany is descended from a family that survived her grandparents deportation. Her family emigrated from Russia in the late '80s of the last century.
Cromwell's pathological death campaign in Ireland against the Irish Catholics resulted in the deaths of 41% of the population and the deliberate slaughter of every man, woman and child in the the largest cities of rebellious Ireland.
Unfortunately, the list continues to those in more recent times: Spain in the 1930s, the dissolution of Yugoslavia, Rwanda, and so many others. The expulsion of German minorities in Europe after WWII, those who welcomed the Nazi invasion of their countries in the prelude to WWII.
To your splendid posting; it has met the bar and crossed it splendidly. You might well be justly proud.

This is a very difficult type of poem to write in my opinion due to all the lines ending in the same rhyme but you managed to do it flawlessly without breaking the rhyme and while having the story flow effortlessly. Wonderful job!
