This is an exceedingly cute poem, seen from the point of view of (perhaps) a five-year old. It is so true to life - helping endlessly, and then suddenly had enough. Parents should never ask too much of older siblings.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I didn't personally have any siblings but I had children and my oldest daughter was my little helper. She enjoyed it a t first but it got old and I'm afraid I depended on her more than I should have.

I really like this rhyming metered poem! It reminds me of my own two daughters, particularly this part:
Mom says she will look up to me.
And where I am, she'll want to be.
Wow, is that true! My younger daughter wanted to do everything the older daughter did, and the older one did not appreciate it! lol
Thank you for sharing - it brought back one of my "golden oldie" memories!
Susan

Thank you for the review and nice comments. I worte about my daughters too. I didn't have any siblings but I had four children. The oldest was my little helper. I think she decided I depended on her too much.

This is such a fun poem to read and imagine. Anyone who has had to take care of a younger sibling will understand. Mom of course, always appreciates it. Thanks for sharing. :)

'Mom's Helper', is an extremely well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. Penned with craft and skill. It was a pleasure to both read and review this talented poet's work. Good luck with the contest! (I think it's in one, but my computer's hot and steaming :))))))

You did a great job with the monorhyme per verse. I enjoyed reading this, Mystery Author. Your rhymes are good as is the smooth flow. The image is a good pairing with your well-chosen words. I would delete the author notes so no one thinks you wrote a current poem for the oldies one.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

What a great Golden Oldie. You have entered into the heart of a special big sister, and made her leadership and acts of helping such a positive experience. Beautiful.

Sorry, no sixer's left, but this peom is not only cute, it is meaningful for all the older sisters that were innocent mentors for their younger sisters.
Funny how things changed as they grew older and the positions changed.

Beautiful poem of a big sister's love and affection. I never had a younger sibling but I can imagine the feeling of having one. It must be great to be looked up to by someone dear to you. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you. I never had a big or little sibling, but I did have a daughter who had a little sister. She liked to please me by being my little helper and I certainly appreciated it.
