"The Blood Moon"
Represents the beginning of the hunting season.
When the moon is bright at night and enables the hunters to be able to see well.
...
You're writings about the blood moon?
Yes, this is a different twist on the blood moon from what I've known.
I've looked at the moon and named the goddess Luna.
I've written about her and I've also written about to "Sea of Tranquility"
The fact that it is larger than the earth and that it is close and that it has been a target for asteroid strike for many years.
We wonder if this will be our Fate in the future?

Hi Liz. An interesting take on the image giving homage to the woman and her cycles as a means of family continuity. Thanks for sharing this cultural Native American viewpoint. Marilyn

Thank you for your supportive review. It is a poetry we belong to. There a picture & title and we do the rest. It's not a contest...just fun to be wild. You're welcome to join. I can give you the link. If you go on it you can sign up. I don't do them all, just ones that interest me.

This is all new to me, Liz. :) I respect women's privacy. What I know about Native Americans is that when their women came down with their monthly cycle the male would not touch her and she was not allowed to touch any of his weapons because... I don't really know, but think it was because she would hex them. Thank you for the club entry.

Thank you for your involved review. I think you're right on. That's probably why they hoped Grandmother Moon would call upon Grandmother Ocean to cleanse them.

I thought this was your own metaphor when I first read it, but then I saw your description, it's and interesting thing to learn. I love this poem, women do carry the burdens most of the life. The picture you paired with it is perfect!

Moon Time
Liz O'Neill your free style of writing, I found very orignal and very well presented. I didn't know that the blue moon
had power according to The Native American culture honors woman for all she does,
Gert

This was great Liz. It gave respect and love to the Moon, which she dearly deserves. It was nice of you to write of the Blood Moon and of menstruation which was so appropriate. Well done, much appreciated.

Thank you for your appreciative review. I was thinking of you while I was outside today. I love doing something I learned from a book about the predictions of the Hopi. There is a chant which means being part of all of nature. Chant it with a soft gaze and you will feel a part of the trees and grasses. It is Techqua Ikatchi. Try it out. It is a wonderful experience.

Wow. unfortunately it is raining here so I will wait until tomorrow to try the chant. You are so very welcome Liz. Hugs.

What an interesting fact about Native American culture. Thank you for teaching me something new. Your poem is well-written, interesting, educational. A great explanation of their beliefs.
