Carol, my dear, you touch my heart with everything you write. The funny, sad, and now the inspirational. So many people start writing because of tragedy, loss, or loneliness, especially as a child. And Most, never realize how much they can touch another person's heart and life to make a difference. I new you were a special prize after reading your post that I stumbled across. I've tried not to miss one since. Congratulations on the win!

You are so very very kind my friend. You brought tears to my eyes as I was beginning to doubt my place on this site and this morning my charming friend lifted my spirits. Your friendship is precious! I can always depend on finding a smile with you. Sending a big one back today! Have a great day!

Thank you so much for sharing from the various seasons of your life and how writing was a source of therapy, comfort, and a means to bring others joy! Now I'm distressed about your second son and wondered what happened and at the same time scared to find out.

Thank you so much for your kind review. My life has been a rocky road but my faith has always lead me through the darkness and into the light. Tragedy has made me a survivor - a fighter for my family. Tragedy has taught me to appreciate the small blessings. Writing has given me the flashlight to walk these roads.

Heart-felt/warming/breaking. Eloquent and profound--I can relate to all the reasons--except, luckily for me--to the loss of a child--re fanstory--my sentiments exactly! This may well be a winner!

Thank you so much for your kindness and support. It's so true that without Fanstory and my new friends I am not sure who I would lean upon for strength. I truly appreciate everyone. And my writing has always been my doorway to God, to sanity and to the world in general.

Your essay brought out a lot of good points as to why we write. I have had some of the same feelings. I write for myself as well, yet it is wonderful to get helpful feedback.

Thank you - It's difficult to narrow down specifically why we write. I guess, it's a free and open door to allowing us to open whatever doorway we are passing through whether it be reality or our imagination.

You have written a very meaningful story about why you write, one that I'm sure many of us can relate to. I for one have found writing to be my only escape in times of sorrow or tragedy, even if it often gets written only to my journal. Good luck in the contest.

When I was younger, it all was just me, God and the journal. I didn't share my inner feelings. I feel so blessed that now others understand and can offer me support and prayers. Thank you for your thoughts and wishes.

Well done. Thought your story was very interesting and I can relate with wanting to write to vent out the pains and the sorrows that this life can sometimes offer us. You have a great narrative voice. Keep up the great work.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. Truly you have found your writing to be what you needed at different times of tragedy and sorrow in your life. Like you, reading was an escape when I was a child and a love for literature instills a desire in our hearts to also write. Very well written.

Thank you so much Anne. I appreciate your kindness and friendship especially at this time. As a child, it was my only way of voicing my emotions and as I grow older, once again it is my outlet as well. Sending you a smile and blessings for a great day!

This is a wonderfully written essay on why you write.
I like the way you've bookended the whole piece by beginning with why, moving on to your life experiences, and ending with the return to why you write.
I truly hope this exercise brings you some comfort. And, please, keep on writing!

Thank you for your kind words and for enjoying my contest entry. When I was young, writing became my voice between me and my journal. As I grow old, writing once again proves to be my outlet of support. Thank you again and God bless.
