Wow! Praise God for the timing of the sale of the house! And I loved that you could tell that awful realtor about your successful sale even if he didn't believe it.
Now I'm so curious about that other realtor and whether you will get a daughter-in-law through her...

Another excellent installment, BethShelby (one tiny typo THe in the paragraph that started with 'I still had the job..'
I love that you provide small historic references in your installments...reading your work is like getting a mini history lesson:)
Thank you for continuing to provide glimpses into your family history.

Thank you so much for the review and the comments. Most people seem to like the little bits of historical content but not everyone. Some say it has nothing to do with my family, but I think I need it to tell people more about the time the story is taking place.

Dear Beth, This chapter is certainly filled with a lot of drama both on the world scene, and And your tiny little family, wanting to buy a house, and sell one.
One thing your husband did that was very wise, that was to invest in land, rather than the stock market, Otherwise you would not have had the money to buy anything, anywhere!

Thank you for the review. You are right. He did good by investing in land. THe IRA we had were in stocks, not of our choosing. THey lost money but we couldn't take it anyway without a penalty until we were seniors.

Thank you so much for sharing a chapter in your book. I think it is wonderful how you are talking with your husband. My mother-in-law passed away 10 years ago. She was eleven hours shy of 94. She carried a picture of my father-in-law and her in a little heart frame. She spoke with him always and kissed him goodnight. He went everywhere with her.
I was so touched by your story.
God bless you and yours always.

God cannot be thwarted, you held out bravely for your asking price, and by the power of God, it happened, I remember that day in 1987, it's etched in the minds of most investors I'm afraid, my girls were 8 and 4 respectively at that time, well done, blessings Roy

I do believe that was another of God's miracles. It was our last chance to sell by owner and timing was perfect.

We sold our beautiful home in 1987 and moved north to small undeveloped acreage so Jim could have the ranch he always dreamed of. We didn't have any trouble with the sale or purchase so I don't remember that stock market crash at all. Well done, Beth. Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy, I appreciate your review as I always do. My husband would have loved to gone to his ranch to live but I don't think we would have seen much of children. We might have done it anyway if Connie hadn't still had four years of high school ahead. Are you still on the ranch?

It's not a ranch anymore. I had to get rid of the animals when Jim died. I couldn't take care of them anymore.

I've missed some chapters, but I think one can stand on it's own so I'm not too lost. I remember all those events, especially the Wall because I was stationed in Germany when it came down. Very nice job.
