Beautiful and positive reflection on winter and its rigours, appreciating what each season can offer. At the same time the lovely picture is painted of the magic of the winter season. Well written.

Thank you for reading my poem and for your nice comments. :)

Hello Mystery Writer.
This is a well constructed sonnet describing the time of the year that is way too long. A perfect winter would run from Jan 1 -- Jan 3. That is probably not going to happen. Good luck in the contest.

This is beautifully crafted. I grew up with winters like you describe, and this truly paints my memories. I miss the days when playing in the snow was something everyone loved to do! Where I live now, if it snows, life stops! Great job and good luck!

Thank you for this nice review. I live in Minnesota and it's been 30 below here the last few days, so I'm rooting for spring. Thanks again for reading. :)

Ha, Ha, ha minus 40 here and I can't wait to kick Miss Frozen out. Yur stanza is more delicate that my tuff expression: "
Though Winter slows, it holds an icy grip.
A fierce storm is waiting in the wings.
Though the path to spring, seems a shorter trip,
we'll wait a longer time to hear birds sing." Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

This sonnet, Winter's Last Hurrah, has the proper formatting and gives the reader the good spin on the wintry activities that occupy us as we wait for spring to return.

This is a well written sonnet that shows you love Winter. But I beg to differ about the length of winter. Here it seems to be the longest of the seasons. We've had snow since October. I was ready for Spring after the first snow.
Good luck with the prompt.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

This poem made me almost feel like I could love winter but then I realize it is 30 below zero outside! Excellent poem with great imagery. Also love the picture you choose!

Hello, BN,
First of all, the glittering picture is awesome!
I don't like winter very much because the ones I love seem distant: my nearest relative is less than a mile away, but I can't walk very well in the snow.
I love the way your poem brings out the wonderment of winter; gleaming white snow, beautiful landscapes--its like the last part of winter hangs on, but in the background, Spring simmers to finally come into its own.
I love your poem. It brings about the hope and beauty of winter itself.
Good luck in the contest, BN. I think this is a winning entry.
Blessings,
Cindy
