I just love this 'unvarnished truth' as to why you write. It has a sense of having grown organically, as it were, the discovery that you can put words together successfully and readers get it, so to speak. I especially love the honesty of the last four lines - an aspiration of my own - to leave some words behind for future generations. I can understand how what you write makes an impact. Good luck with future writing ventures !

That is exactly why I write--immortality of a sort. I posted a piece on that very theme last year (not for a contest). You are miles ahead of most of us! Kudos. Best of luck--and I don't mean the contest.

You did a good job of telling us how you arrived where you are. For now, you are on your own, without an editor, so I will read through those eyes. I think your first paragraph is trite and it is often best to not try to be coy in the beginning. You could just as easily say, "I had neither the voice for radio, nor the face for television." There are also areas where syntax and punctuation could be improved. The Internet is a great resource for things like whether or not to put quotation marks around grades, etc. You have a paragraph beginning, "Me, on the other hand . . . " s/b "I, on the other hand . . . " as the subject. Keep writing and you will finish and publish that book.
