Well done, lovely poem. Yes, true love does not necessarily retain all the flowers and chocolates etc, but is manifested in all the ordinary aspects of having a best friend to love and share life with, in a very meaningful way. Well written.

You are right. The heady days of courtship and marriage do give way to a sustained relationship between life partners. Not so exciting perhaps but deeply satisfying all the same. And it makes the occasional romantic gift that more special.

Very nice entry for the Valentines Day writing prompt contest. You use excellent descriptive words of classic Valentine's day topic. Your idea that Valentine's typical presents and romance diminish with time but necessarily the love and that's what matters. I like the presentation.

I have read many of these today, and this is the only one I've seen so far that speaks to the journey love takes through a relationship, how it twists and turns, but so long as you are with "the one" can turn into something different but still beautiful in the end. Excellent use of the bokeh effect in your photo as well (I always think the heart shape is one of the best uses for this). Best of luck in the contest.

Well, yes, it is a poem that is very real. It speaks of how romance, love and relationship are in the world outside of romance novels and movies. In the end if you have good life, and real love then you are ahead of the game.
