Good idea moving to Texas, but it gets extremely hot here during the summer. LOl I enjoyed reading your contest entry. If flowed smoothly. I wish you the best of luck with the contest.

Thank you for this satirical piece. After a year of masks, we are all tired and depressed and want to be free.
Luckily, I got my first shot of the vaccine and when I get the second one, while I will still have to wear a mask, I will feel at least free to do more than grocery shopping. I can go see my sister-in-law in another state, and give her a long-overdue hug after she lost family members last year to Covid-19 and was unable to hold services for them.
It has been a rough year.
Mary

I'm so sorry for your losses and the difficulty. Sadly, this has happened to so many, and the underlying depression of isolation, job losses, school cancellations, the great things that make life worth living, has not helped. Add the CO2 inhalation. I'm not a scientist but even I know this is not good. In some places the masking is double and triple. I saw a nurse the other day that I had on a triple mask. Anyway, my response is to write and answer with humor and satire. It's the better way. That, and pray.
Sending along my very best to you and yours. Extra hugs!
    Sal :))

Yes, yes, yes! These masks are going to be the death of all social interaction!
Now that I'm vaccinated, I have the courage to say the hell with these masks, I'd rather get corona! LOL
Friday really made me laugh!
Thanks for the desperately needed humor.

I enjoyed the satirical humour of this flash fiction. All of these restrictions are a real bind. However, they seem to have worked in our country to keep the pandemic largely at bay until such time as the vaccine program kicks in.

i will be so glad when masks are a thing of our past. I have to wear glasses and wearing a mask fogs up my glasses.

I always have on glasses and a foggy mess when masked. I feel otherworldly these days and so very tired of these masks! If they worked, then they WOULD work. You know what I mean? Since I'm a humorist, I took to the pen to release my frustrations.

Sally:

I love this. I was afraid it was heading towards your having COVID. I am
really glad this is a flash fiction piece. I love some Barry Manilow music.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for the excellent review and and insightful comments, dear Jan. I had COVID-19 last March and recovered. It is over 99% recoverable, yet the government feels the need to mask us forever, in some situations double and triple masked! Breathing our own CO2 cannot be good. They need to go back to basic science in my opinion. I know more people who are depressed, jobless, and despairing from human interaction, so I took to my satirical pen to draw attention to it. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I hope you are well recovered and blessed. I hope the best for everyone in these things. Before I was anything I was a humor writer, so I'm so glad I still have my sense of humor.
Sending you my very best and blessings always, Sally xoxo

Yeah, I think everyone is getting sick of these restrictions. They're telling us we have to keep masking even after the vaccine. I can't wait for a return to normal. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for the excellent review, dear Cindy. Everyone I know is sick of these restrictions. I decided to take to the pen and try to make fun of it. I was a humor writer first and foremost. I'm glad I still have some humor to project onto paper.

Well-written and amusing. I like the way you did it day by day, not that his days have much differentiation. Can't help but wonder why he thought Texas would make his life any better.

Thank you for the excellent review and comments, Carol. Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, lifted the state's eight-month-old mask mandate March 10. His new directive says Texans are "strongly encouraged" to wear masks in public but it bars local governments from enforcing their own face-covering mandates. Mississippi just lifted their mask mandates, too.
Sending you my best today as always,
    Sally :))

This humorous flash fiction story, Flu of the Flu, has woven in either a cynical or satirical masking reference which leans into a depression tale. Sounds like a bad week.

Hi Sally, LOL...most people are fed up with this
man made crises...doctors said when the mask idea came out...it was more dangerous to wear them...than the virus itself...

there will be more states stop wearing masks soon...but Texas sounds like a plan to me...
I love your story told...so very well written my sweet friend...picture perfect you...and I love the video...
love your poem sweet girl...love you lots...Linda xxoo
