I am so happy to have looked you up and found your poetry.
This is superb! You are truly talented.
I have been making collections of my poetry and am in the process of self-publishing on Amazon. It is a difficult experience, but thankfully, I have help.
Have you published your poetry collection?
I wish you continued success.

As a somewhat failed gardener, I thank God for the rain. I have found that ground water is not nearly as good for grass, flowers or vegetables as rain water. I do believe that there are nutriments in rain water that are absent from ground water. So yes, the plants will indeed be alright.

My wife is the gardener in our family, and she would agree with you that RAIN is so much more beneficial than ground water. Many thanks for sharing my poem. Rod

Oh, this is well written, and deserves more stars than I have. I just scrolled down and saw it won a competition. So very well deserved. There are parts of this that are exquisitely excellent.
Well done.
My best wishes.

Your poem is very descriptive and I could follow along easily. I could just see the sprouts and blossoms moving slowly to the top of the soil, peeking out with relief from the water. The rain coming that way an added blessing. Good job!

This is just the thing to bring in the spring. Superb imagery here, particularly enjoyed the parched earth getting to experience the groan of the faucet. One always hopes water comes out.

You've got a way with words and have written a fine poem here. Congratulations on a well-earned win. :)

Hi Rod, the weather is crazy everywhere my
sweet friend...

Winter is going out like a lion...and is still
going out...and where my brother lives...
is bone dry...the only water on the ground...
is where I washed my car...

but April showers will bring May flowers...

I love your poem...and love this picture...so very
nicely written...love Linda xxoo

Congratulations on winning this contest. You have written a beautiful poem. I like your reference to Dickens "Like orphans starved in Dickens' book.
"Oh, please!" they beg. "May I have more?"

I just LOVE this poem! Love the rhyme scheme, love the beautiful image you chose to adorn your work...love the images that rise from the poem and make me smile...

"The wilting plants all plead with me
to act as Nature's hired man.
A faucet groans from long disuse
as I fill up my sprinkling can."

That's my favorite stanza. The point when man and nature intersect, each filling a need for the other!

Clever Dicken's reference as well!

The meter is so smooth it flows down the page as softly as a spring rain... how fitting!

Well done!
