Dear Mystery Poet,

Well, this is a mixed bag sort of poem. I'm a little concerned over the 'pain' part of it, but I think, if I were the daughter, I would be so honored and humbled. This is just precious!

You know, I think it would be amazing to have a parent or family member who put thoughts like this into beautiful poetry - but I can tell you from personal experience that some family members do. not. care. hahaha Not one whit. I guess when they've just grown up surrounded by mom's writings, it loses something. I think this is absolutely beautiful. I sure hope your daughter appreciates it.

Notes, if I may:
1.) I'm a mom who's trapped in pain, it's you (who) sets me free.
--> always use 'who' for humans, please

2.) you(r) tender heart, your gentle touch, the greatest gifts on earth.

Thanks so much and congrats on this sweet and tender relationship. Good luck!

Hello Mystery Writer,
What a lovely tribute to your daughter! I surely can relate!
I love your reference to the "Scottish Moors!" Our son-in-law is British, and I recall his mother sharing how when Patrick was born, she had to travel over the English moors to the hospital! But I also love that you named your daughter "Heather!" Heathcliffe and Catherine would approve! :)

Best Wishes!
diane

Thank you. I read that book when I was 13 years old and found it both thrilling and romantic, although tragic in the end. It stuck with me. Thanks so much for this nice review. :)

This is a great entry for the contest. Heather is such a lovely plant and that is a great name for your daughter. Your poem is a great tribute to her. Daughters are such a blessing, and as they get older they become more special.

They are a blessing. I have 3 and I love them all equally, but Heather is my youngest and looks after me the most...she is very giving. Thanks so much for reading. :)

You have written a beautiful poem in tribute to a steadfast daughter who won't quit, even when you are almost ready to do. Such gifts are to be treasured, but the poem also speaks to the role you played/still play as mother. Very heartwarming. Good luck in the contest.
