Well-timed post. We are approaching Good Friday and your poem is simply beautiful. Yes, The Savior still shines His Light on this world full of darkness. Great.

Great stuff, Jim. You have been putting out some wonderful poetry of late, but then you always do, it seems.

These lines were my Favorites:

"'Twas then the sun crested, shining so bright on my life.
Now I am about praying and celebrate the gift He bestowed.
Not one thing can cause me that prior strife ...
I'm a travelin' a different road!

Brilliant, Jim. Bob

This is a truly poem about faith and holding steadfast to your own while those around you take a different approach. Very nicely written and a beautiful entry for the My Faith contest, I wish you the best of luck.

I was only saying that the other day, Jesus raises me to my feet, looks me in the face, and says, you are my brother and my friend, you're not my slave, what is mine I give to you to share, no more are you in bondage to sin, you are free. Beautifully written Jim, what a gift, well done, blessings Roy

This poem uses end rhyme and internal rhyme to describe what Jesus went through and what it means to you. He did so much for those who believe in Him. I like how the last stanza changes rhyme scheme to emphasize the change faith makes in a life.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Joan, thank you! You are the first to remark on that subtle but intended rhyme change. Happy Easter!

-A very nice image, Jim,
and an excellent poem.
-It flows well from verse
to verse with effective
imagery and rhyme.
-A very good opening
showing how there is
so much complaining,
but then you go on to
give examples of letting
the light in and Him in your life,
"'Twas then the sun crested,
shining so bright on my life."
-A very good entry; good luck!

I enjoyed very much a glimpse into a spiritual journey that has taken, and will take, a lifetime to traverse. As always the sun lights the way, thank you.

Your poem is a good entry for the contest. Well written. I like your closing lines: "Not one thing can cause me that prior strife ...
I'm a travelin' a different road!"
When we recognize the cross and what it means - Jesus dying for us - we definitely turn around and walk a different road.

Hi Jim. I really enjoyed reading this wonderfully constructed verse that is full of meaning and is a theme I can appreciate during this Holy Week ~ new birth/renewed faith. You have done a very good job in the construction of this poem. Well done.
