Politics is becoming the theme of the day. We should worry about keeping each other and our country healthy, safe and strong. Whether you like Trump or Biden, it doesn't matter, as long as we can end COVID and make the world respect us again. We all hope our words strike a positive note with those who read.

we should worry about keeping our country safe, protecting our borders, etc. It makes all the difference in the world. We have gone from strong and respected to weak and laughed at - except by China an Russia who are thrilled to death with Biden.

I have a thing about trees, and have written several poems about them.

writing poetry (not saying it's good) I can do in my sleep, it's the promoting by critiquing for 20 cents here and there that takes so long to keep for paying a fortune every day. didn't think this contest through. :)

I agree, I only bother to promote my favorites if that because it?s really just a popularity contest around here or who can afford to promote. Some of its not even very good in my opinion. Lol. But I?ve learned a lot here!

As for literary merit, I 'll leave that for others. You are a patriot. You are afraid that our country is disintegrating. Americans are destroying America. Me too. The problem is this: Most Americans are not aware of any of the things we are aware of. They are uninformed and or misinformed, which is even worse. I think the situation is even worse than you are describing it. For example, it's corporations, not just big tech, that is attacking us. Soon I will be "publishing" a short story on this topic. You're right, of course, about big corporations, and I think many libs, since they watch the lib channels, don't hear what is really going on and have no idea that they are socialists. Though many do.

You've hit many nails on their heads. This is a perfect listing of what is happening and how disconcerting life has become. I can barely watch the news anymore and damned if I'll watch CNN or MSNBC. I know a few FS authors that will disagree, and for the life of me, I can't understand those who are going along with what is happening. Some really bad powers that be, in the world, are joining forces. That is so scary. Our Prime Minister here in Canada is mandating some over the edge stuff. The thing about all this is, it is not being stopped by reasonable people.

I know, and the big question for Americans and Canadians is WHY? Are there no patriots left in government? Is everything power and money? Our Florida governor, de Santis, is good and strong (probably misspelled his name), and the gov of Georgia has passed a state law requiring ID for voting, and other good stipulations, after Georgia's disastrous vote, but I do not understand Democrats. I do think they are not hearing the correct news - naturally.

Our prime minister, in my opinion is a bit of a wally, but is probably not as daft as he comes over! Our country is in a mess for lots of different reasons.

I can't really comment on what is happening in America - what we see and hear on the news always looks rather chaotic. Here in the UK, we have our own political problems. Our prime minister, in my opinion is a bit of a wally, but is probably not as daft as he comes over! Our country is in a mess for lots of different reasons.

I love "a bit of a wally." I like your PM. Our past pres. irritated people but he loved this country and did more good for us than anyone. when he left office this country was in great shape. and now... pitiful.

And thank you, Susan!! I understand. My one and only granddaughter, whom I love dearly, is a senior at Texas and is now doing a fellowship in DC in govt and public policy, and has also been swayed. It just kills her mom and me. I do have my daughter and one sister who are conservatives, but my California sister actually disowned my SC sister and me a few months ago. Hard to believe how families can split over politics - of course, that's the plan, and it seems to be working.
Anyway, I'm sorry about your family. It is sad. And our govt is making it worse.

He's letting anyone cross the borders, and many are children unaccompanied without a relative and will most likely be lost in human trafficking. I know this for a fact! Then, he's rewarding them with taxpayer dollars for doing so. We have our families hurting and he gives money to aid them, putting them in hotels and demanding Greyhound Bus Lines transport them. (These border crossers weren't tested for COVID-19, by the way.) Yep, he's real concerned about the spread of the virus...
But if you're a homeless vet on the street... so sorry, nothing for you. Let me ask you something. Would any sane person open their house's door to just anyone?? No!! They certainly would not!

and God bless you, Sally! Everything you said is true, and unfortunately it looks like they will only get worse. I think the two things that get me the most are, where are the patriots in government? There are a few, but apparently not enough to vote down those who aren't. And if we lose on the HR1 bill, we've had it.
And 2. Why, in God's name, is the media so liberal? Do they all want Socialism for this country, or are they so power crazy they can't think beyond that? At any rate, thank you for your neat and encouraging review!

Oh, I know libs will either not respond or will let me have it. It matters not to me. I am sick to death of government control of every single thing we do and say! and, for the life of me, I can't understand why the liberals go for it. They are the most dishonest bunch I have ever seen in my life. Even if they didn't/don't like Trump's style, what could they possibly think was wrong with all the things he did?
