LOL!! That is so funny, Debra, I could just picture you sitting enjoying your privacy, doing the word search or crossword. (my mum did that) And then to be rudely interrupted! Not on, my friend. Hurry up and get that heavy duty bolt on. :)) Sandra xx

    Hello Sandra :)
Thankfully, this is not a problem for me anymore! The children respect my privacy a lot more these days. Either that, or they don't need to be where I am 100% of the time now! I drew from my past frustrations to write the poem... Thanks for your lovely feedback, Sandra. I don't take the puzzle book into the bathroom with me though, just a regular novel when I'm having a bubble bath!
Thanks for your support with this challenge, you're helping to motivate me!
    Best wishes, Debra :)

Very humorous! Most of us have been through that time of one's life. Now I have a little dog - and yes, unless the door is firmly locked he will push it open with his nose, just so we can always be together! Well written.

Ha, I remember this well. Nobody even thought about the powder room, until ... well you got the story.

Terrific poem, Debra with a most entertaining and yet serious message at the same time.

Sometimes a heavy-duty dead bolt is just the thing.

Gloria

Oh my! I can relate to your wry humor--my first house had one bathroom and three inquisitive kids. Very amusing--to me--that your kids can pick the lock!

I agree. Your poem says it all. That should be a place of peace as you wrote, Debra. Good job with the rhymes and smooth flow. How did your kids turn the lock from the outside to get in? You're doing a good job with your April poem a day.

Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Hi Jan :) Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I appreciate your kind support with the challenge also...
The bathroom door lock is fit into the door handle. On the opposite side of the door, the back of the lock is like a circle with a slit across it (like a screw head) The kids used to fit a coin, or their thumb nail into the slit and turn it so that the lock opened! Thankfully, they don't do it anymore! Best wishes, Debra :)

Hello, Debra,

I didn't know you are British :) I am Spanish, from Spain.

I love, love, love your poem about mother's boundaries. My kids used to do that when they were little and now is my grandson that follows me to the bathroom ... hah hah hah. Excellent rhyme and imagery. Well done!

Those days return with grandchildren, just so ya know. Oh dearest, will peace on Earth and good will in the bathroom ever come? A fine write from the loo.
Sending you hope for a quiet moment,
Sal XOs...

This is a nicely written poem ð???it has a great flow and rhyme scheme. If they need my attention then and there. They turn the lock from the other side and crash in without a care. Very well done.

Ah, I remember those days. It seems that from the time of babies in utero, that fine line of distinct individuality is often unrecognized. I do hope you get some moments of peace!

Thank you so much, Helen :) They're much better now than they used to be... I had to channel previous frustrations for this one!

I remember my youngest as an infant would panic if I was ever out of her sight and my husband would bring her to the bathroom while I showered to reassure her. It's good to have those days over! Lol.
