When I read this I actually had a twinge of grief and connected with your words profoundly. This picture says it all. I don't follow the royals but have watched the Netflix series on this couple. Flawed as the whole family may at times may be, their devoted loyalty to each other is quiet and blaringly loud at the same time. I loved this post and gave you my vote. Above and beyond the others. Good luck! Lynda

Thank you for the enthusiastic review and the extra shiny star.
I am glad you enjoyed the read and was emotionally moved by the words.
I wanted to focus on the person and not the royalty .. the Queen looked so frail and broken ( sigh)
I must thank you also for your vote in the competition..
Best wish for a peaceful weekend
Keep safe!

This poem, God Save the Queen, ends correctly and gives the readers a look inside as we imagine the Queen's feelings at this tragic moment in her life.

Thank you for reviewing my poem.
Yes I wanted to focus on the wife , the widow and not on her status.
My entry did well ..Six members gave me their vote
Glad to see others appreciated my approach.

I could feel the hush and the quiet in your poem. I liked how you expressed both grief of loss and remembrance of what was (brooch, pearl earrings and necklace). Great contest entry!

I like the picture. There is always Elegance in the queen. You did a good job to describe her dress. Also there is grief in her in this poem.
Thanks for sharing

Thank you for the positive review.
Yes, The Queen wore several items that had meaning to them both.
They met when she was thirteen .. it must be very hard for her to cope with much a great loss.
Keep safe!

In the face of grief we are all equal, and still there is something different - A minute of silence was held in memory of the Prince,
for sixty seconds the nation stood still, fell quiet. - Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

I appreciate the kind review ..
I think it will be hard for the queen to move forward without her husband.
She knew him since she was 13 years old.
With Her passing ,I m not sure the monarchy will continue.
Keep safe!

Your lovely poem is a very moving tribute to our queen that has had to endure so much sorrow in the past year. I wish you good luck in the competition. Jen.

Thank you for the kind review.
She looked so frail during the funeral .. she has always put the nation before all ..
It s sad her grandson could not find it in himself to stay for Her birthday ... hopefully it s not the last.
Keep safe!

Yes it is. Meghan has lot to answer for. I think he should have brought his son to see his grandmother and other relatives also. Just saying. X
