The pun on this fountain is clever. It indeed resembles a water loo with it spilling over it's edge. Since you say the battles of Britain are "quaint" I expect your sarcasm is indifferent to their cause. They had so many battles however, I'm sure a cause wasn't known by them. All the energy and waste associated with the frequent battles is submerged in a watery loo.

Lol Thank you Jan for your generous review.

The Napoleonic battles named were not quaint and indeed both were historically important to Britain's vital interests of the time.

Battle can be a noun or a verb. I think you viewed it as a noun.

A clever piece of punning! English place-names provide many opportunities! I've always been amused by Puddletown on the River Piddle in Dorset! It was one of the turning points on a low-level training route when I was in the RAF.

First let me thank you for your words if praise, most appreciated.

I enjoyed reading your personal recollection of Puddletown. You are right that there is much humour to be found in British place names
