You know I enjoy reading your memoirs. This makes me wonder about this COVID vaccine, what are we going to discover about it years down the road? I have only highlighted the major issues with 'that' there are many I didn't highlight.

She resented the fact that we still asked her to be home early on school nights. (omit that)

She felt that at seventeen, she was too old for a curfew.(omit that)

The news was that the company had decided to let Curtis go. (omit that)

It had always bothered me that doctors insisted that vaccines weren't harmful, and no one died from them.
(omit that)

He said I would need an autopsy report, medical files, and a letter from the doctor saying that the vaccine was what caused Susan's death. (omit that)

I called Jackson and found that the doctor's records had been discarded. (omit that)

but he told me again that he was sure the shot wasn't what caused her death. (omit that)

I didn't mention that we had already received the letter. (omit that)

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I find when to use and not use "that" very confusing. I have another reviewer who often says I need it, when I omit it. I looked for rules and read this. As a rule of thumb in questionable cases, remember: Using ?that? is never really wrong, though it may be unnecessary; omitting ?that? in some cases indeed may be wrong.

I had and editor who made me delete them. She said it is the most over used word in in the English language.

This continues to be very interesting indeed.

Noted somethings:

The word "off" should follow laid in the fifth paragraph.

In paragraph eight put space between months, five and time frame should be timeframe.

In last paragraph law suit should be lawsuit.

I see Christi was still unsettled. When your co-worker was fired, I don't blame you for being so concerned. His chances of being hired into a new job seemed somewhat sketchy. I understand how you wanted some sort of closure re the death of your child and kudos to you for pursuing it. Evan must have been impressed with what the settlement would be if you won. I look forward to learning if you did win.

Thank you for the review and the comments. It suit didn't go to trial until five years later but I have a short story that tells a condensed version of what happened, and I will release it soon so everyone can see what happened.

This is a really interesting chapter, Beth. I'm not sure what the DPT vaccine was and why it was given to young children. I'm curious as to how the law suit turned out. You keep proving what a strong woman you are, taking on things at work and looking for answers to this. Thanks for sharing,

Thank you for the great review. All the doctors were giving the shot to babies at two, four, and six month to protect them from diphtheria whooping cough and tetanus. I think they still give it but hopefully they have done something to make the whooping cough less dangerous. I lot of babies but doctors kept it under wraps. I'll let you know how it turns out soon. Thanks so much for the review.

Thanks for the explanation, Beth. I'm familiar with that shot, just not the by the initials. I'm pretty sure my kids had that too. I never heard of any serious side effects.

Beth,

Wow. I cannot imagine how horrific all that was. Having to do the research and gathering up all that info in such a rush rush way. And then being concerned about how the doctor's letter might be taken. AND how digging it all up again might make you all feel. Bless your heart!!!

Just a couple of notes:
1.) This was a field she found interesting, and (she) was considering it for a major once she started college.

2.) As a result, the new owner had to hire managers to run the company, and things had not (gone) smoothly.
--> to avoid using 'run' two times so closely together

3.) Hardly a week passed when someone who had been with the company for years was laid off or fired.
--> you're saying no one was laid off or fired
--> Hardly a week passed (that) someone who had been with the company for years was(n't) laid off or fired. (or even easier:)
--> It seemed every week someone who'd been with the company for years was laid off or fired.

Thanks!

Thank you Robyn. All the suggestions you made are good ones and I've made the changes. I appreciate your help. Finding out about how to apply for the compensation was a challenge. The resolution didn't come until 2006. At some point, you'll learn how that worked out. I have a short story that I may post that gives a more concise story.

Wow--this is a heavy one. I'm afraid to find out if it was all for naught. Compelling case, masterfully summarized.

Thank you so much for the review and the great comments. Several years pass before we learn more, but I probably go ahead and release a short story that sums thus up so readers can find out what happens. Thanks for the help. I've made the corrections..

Hi Beth, this is a very interesting chapter. What vaccine was that? I've never heard about it. And against what was it? Please make a note. Remember, although I'm half American, I still grew up in Europe and still live there.
Christi. however, was growing increasing unhappy. = ... was growing increasingly unhappy.
to admit the vaccine causedf her death, = drop the 'f ' after caused
All best. Ulla:)))

This was the DPT vaccine that all babies got in three monthly injection starting at at two month. It was a combination of a serum that protected against, Diphtheria, Whooping cough, and Tetanus. I assumed it was given everywhere. I'll check it out and put it in my notes. Thanks for the review and for noting the spags.

My daughter was born in 1981, in Denmark and never received it, hence I was asking. I'm so sorry for your loss.

This may be the same shot that nearly killed a friends child as a baby, but did severally retard him to the point he has been in a hospital for all his life. He went into convulsions that they couldn't control. Poor little guy. He was an adorable baby up to that point. As he grew up he became fitful and would overpower his caregiver. Well done, Beth. Nancy:)

I'm sure it was the same shot. The incontrollable convulsions are a definite symptom of the whooping cough portion of the shot. It was the vaccine all children were given at two months. The doctors wanted to find anything else to blame so very few of the cases were ever reported to the center for disease control. I afraid many people didn't know about the compensation program. They made it very difficult to find out anything about it. It had to be proven the child had developed encephalitis. The children that died were the more fortunate. It is horrible way to live. Thank you for the review, Nancy.
