Dear Beth,

Your memory is fantastic. How you can recall, in such detail, is amazing. All the comings and goings of the family are a fun thing to remember, especially the dating part of your girls. I'm enjoying your stories, and this is a powerful legacy you are leaving behind for all. Especially when your girl turned eighteen and thought the world was now on a string.
What a fun read. Thanks for sharing.
Marie

Thank you so Marie. I'm so glad you like my story. At the moment, I have some journals to rely on, because this is the time period during which, I wrote in the daily. The earlier part of the story was easy for me to remember, but since there is more of us to keep up with, I'm not sure how sharp my memory will be in the years after 1995. I appreciate the great review. I do think you and I are a lot alike.

Hi Beth, yet another lovely installment to your conversation with your late husband. You describe it so well and it is as if we're sitting across from each other and you tell everything that is happening in your family. I love it. Can't wait for what's next. Ulla:)))

Thank you so much Ulla, I'm so glad you like this way of telling a story. I wasn't sure it would work when I started it but people seem willing to read it.

I had one like Christie. She was named Angel, but for from it. She liked the boys and could use a few choice words as well. Some said the preacher's kids were the meanest because they had to play with the Deacons' kids.
I can see Evan now trying to find common ground with Linny's father.
Good one, Beth. Out of six.

Thank you Chuck, It's good to know that even when we try to raise them right. kids are prone to not be perfect and maybe we can't take their actions as reflection on our parenting. I appreciate you telling me you had a kid like mine as well. Of course preachers' kids do have a reputation for misbehaving. Sometimes they feel they have to prove to their friends they aren't a "goody two shoes."

I wonder how Carol and Glen felt with so many visitors planning trips to Florida to visit with them. As you noted in another post, they were very busy so couldn't spend much time, with their visitors. Christi is beginning to see the light and Connie is fluctuating. Up and down, with Lenny. It does take time to know how right someone might be for you. You and your husband continue with travelling back and forth to Mississippi. What's to become of that home?

Thank you for the review and comment. They didn't stay with Carol on this trip. There were six of the and they rent a place on the beach. I think Carol and Gene saw more of them they they wanted to however. We kept the place in Mississippi for another 10 years. Part of the time we had the house rented. It was growing timber and increasing in value so it wasn't a totally bad idea.

Once again I think this is awesome how you are writing and your children will appreciate it when you are no longer here with them. Mine say they don't care...but I remember when I was younger I would say the same...and now I love ancestry. Enjoyed the story as usual. Smiles. Carol

Thank you so much for the review and lovely comment. My kids are glad I'm doing it. Two of them have read everything I've written so far. Don's fiancé is reading it. I guess she wants to know what he life was like for him before she met him. She may back out. LOL

You did a great job with this chapter, Beth. I enjoyed reading and reviewing it. You give so much info and the organization is perfect. I like how you included the info in author notes of the family and friends. I hope things get better for Christi. Your words read well with good imagery. I could see everything you mentioned.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Beth,

This is such a well written account of summer 1991 in your family's life. I'm with you on the cut flowers.

I found it interesting that you had no problem with Lenny's mom, but Evan had nothing really to speak with his dad about.

No errors found and it keeps me interested in reading the next chapter.

Thank you so much for the great review and comments. I'm thrilled with the six stars. I think both my husband and Lenny's dad tended to be introvert's. Evan kept trying to find something they had in common to talk about but they didn't have a lot in common. He was a high school principal, Evan was a drafting supervisor. Evan had been in service, He had not. Evan was a hunter at one time. He wasn't. Talking seemed awkward for them. At a much later date, we learned he was gay and died of aids Lenny was adopted and had no idea why he and his first wife had split up. The second wife knew and was okay with it. I think she married him to save him from the embarrassment of people finding out.

Ok, I knew there was something about your comment that he felt awkward.

    You are welcome.

Oh the joys of relational struggles with our kids. My wife had noticed as a teacher, how well balanced, academically bright girls seemed to fall for real drop kick boys who had serious behaviour issues, something about trying to change and mould bad guys into what they think is a good catch, why do they do that? It rarely works. Do girls really want "yes men", I don't think so. Bless you Beth, great story, blessings Roy

Thank you so much for the review and comments. No, it never works trying to remake people into what you're looking for, and like you say, who want's a yes man. Christi always fell for what she considered good looking and worried about the re,st of it later.

Our youngest son, Steven lived with us until he was 27. Since he lived in our house for free and we paid the house mortgage, his grocery bill, did his laundry, paid his car and health insure, I think you get the idea, he was required to follow our rules, or he was welcome to go out on his own and visit for Sunday dinner. He had not problems following our rules.

I enjoy your memoirs.

She told people at her work that he scared her sometimes, and that she was afraid he might hurt her. (two 'that' in one sentence, the first one can be omitted, the second one is okay to stay, but I'd omit it.)

Thank you so much for reading this. Christi is shortly going to be out of the house and Connie not far behind. Keep reminding me about those "thats" and maybe I'll stop using so many. I think you've got me using the "following day" instead of the "next" day.

If Christie was afraid of Denny it is a warning sign that he must have a violent temper and that will not change. I would have advised he to let it go and find another fellow to date. This was interesting, Beth. Good memory. Nancy:)

Oh, we did advise her. Ar twenty-eight it was hard to get through to her. He was the only guy with a violent temper she was attracted and couldn't understand why. My husband didn't have a bad temper. My dad did, but he all bark and no bite. Thanks for the great review.
