Nail biting, pulse racing excitement. Man what a ride. I am afraid that I would be very dead long before any of this would have transpired. As badly as I want to continue living, My body will not support me in a fight this dangerous and physically taxing. Great write.

I can't help but wonder how he came to be there, but then I wonder that about the bums I see on the streets daily. I guess any set of circumstances where your luck runs out could put one into such a position. Well done. I'm glad you let him escape.

The tension and drama are superb.
This is such a powerful description: "Time honored in segments, it begins with an instant and reaches to eternity. Stuck in a trance-like panic and scared to move, those segments can seem to last, disproportionately, forever."
It's impossible to unsee the following image: "Exhibiting the grace of a wobbling ballerina in leg braces,..."
The use of the particular verb in the following is so apt "...he carefully coaxed his aching body to climb inside."
Excellent writing, brilliant, vivid images. I still can't catch my breath!
