I apologize for no six. This is spectacular in one line poetry, especially for the keepers of war history. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest,
Sally :))

In one sentence you have told a horrific story of grief and loss, without even mentioning the mourning of the whole community. Very skilful writing and I send best wishes for the success of your entry.

Melissa,

What a sad story you shared about the ultimate sacrifice of young soldiers from one small rural town. Incredible that you found this item.

    Melissa,

Are you aware of this book: The Bedford boys
    Book by Alex Kershaw?

If so, do you recommend the same?

Great writing and meaningful message. I like the chosen picture that fits perfectly with the poem. A short poem with a lot of feeling and emotion. Some events will never be forgotten.

The poem requires a story in one line. An ellipsis (...) means something is left out in a sentence, omitted. I feel it might disqualify this poem. It depends on the judges. I would not use an ellipsis in a one line poem. The idea is good. The presentation is supportive of the theme.
Thanks for sharing. Kind regards

Thanks so much, I will double check the ellipsis.

What a sad time depicted well in your one line contest entry, Mystery Author. Your words are haunting, the image is perfect, and your message is tragic. Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

There is no joy, comfort or even satisfaction in war. I don't know if war is always necessary but then again it still occurs. 50 some years ago my mother got a telegram that I was wounded in Vietnam. My grandmother broke the news to her most gently. Good luck in the contest.

Had a brother there. Sad day. He said 5000 of our troops drown that morning for dropping them too short in deep water. Heavy equipment pulled them down. I wish you the best for this write.
