This is a scary short concrete poem about running away from things both literal and figurative. I like the action created in the way you typed falling and clawing.
Congrats on the honorable mention in the contest
Keep writing and stay healthy

Clever formation! Sort of shape poetry gone wild! Love the way you ends with "hugs"--it reminds me of a child awakening from a nightmare in a panic--being soothed by a loving mother who chases all fear away. An out of the box sort of offering. Love it!

    Hey, sweet girl
Hope you are getting better and I know Jess is taking good care of you too. I just hope you are on the mend because I miss you in my cheering section. Love ya, Carol

I'm cheering as much as I can! Just can't take up so much of Jess's time while reading twenty some odd chapters of your latest BIG endeavor! I'll get there....and of course I AM cheering their success even though I haven't yet read them!

I think you about said it all in those fifteen syllables. You painted a picture with those words that send chills up my back. The beginning falling, panic, clawing used to set up the fear, then screaming nightmares silenced used to make it stop. Great job!

Carol,

Lovely! I think poems like this are so clever- demonstrating the feelings and thoughts rather than just saying them. There is a term for this poetic device and I can't for the life of me think of it!

I think this is a extra marvelous entry for the contest! Good luck!

Darned if that is one time consuming poem that took almost as much, probably more, time to format than to write. But you caught my attention. Thanks for sharing.

    Scary, huh? LOL
Yes, it took a little while to set it up, but it was fun. i remember when I use to have those falling nightmares...horrible...especially since there weren't any hugs.

    Thanks, Dolly

Not everyone has those hugs at the end of the nightmare...unfortunately, it is sad. I wish a happy ending for all.

Wow, that is so different and original, and your presentation is excellent, adding emphasis, and making us feel we are fully experiencing what you write about. Great work (sorry, no sixes left!).
Best wishes for the contest.

Oh no I'm wondering why you are falling, running from in panic and clawing and screaming from nightmares then SILENCED
when one Hugs you
From looking at the horrid image that you are showing, I would have scary nightmares.

I use to have those kind of nightmares, luckily they have subsided...though the one who hugged me is only with me in spirit now. Smiles, Carol
