I loved the alliteration in this poem, and just wished you could have taken it a bit further (I'm a real sucker for such mechanics of writing). Congratulations on your win in the contest.

Thank you, Katherine, for your lovely review. Yes, this could have been the start to a longer poem for sure :))

Many people fly south and get away from the likes of the cold season of winter. Thank God for mittens so they keep our hands and fingers from getting frost bitten.

Yes, mittens are wonderful as are hats and scarves, long johns and boots. LOL. We get about one month of severe cold in Texas and that?s in February. Last February we had our first 7 degrees ever recorded. Thanks for a lovely review:))
Take care, Rosemary

Congrats on the contest win Senyai. Well deserved too with this very clever winter write. You've described the bitter winds of winter well in this 5-7-5 poem. Well done,
cheers.

Hello Senyai.
Congratulations on winning the contest.
When I was in the army, we did not refer to winter as the Ice Magician. We referred to winter as the Hawk, because if you were out there in it and you weren't ready, it would fly all over you.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for an amazing review! Oh, interesting about the Army calling Winter the Hawk. I?m sure that being out in the cold with nothing to protect you and no shelter would be brutal.
I have lived a pretty sheltered life and really feel for our Vets and military who put their lives on the line everyday. People just don?t realize what freedom is until they lose it.
Worried about our country right now. Afghanistan is being taken over by the Taliban as we speak while Biden hides somewhere on vacation and Jen Psaki is out of the office for the week. The Afghan President has fled the country. The war in Afghanistan is ending the way it started with the Taliban ruling the country. All that blood and treasure lost for nothing to show for it. Nation building is not the answer but what is? Very uneasy that no one?s at the helm in the White House but wth they haven?t been anyway ?
What a mess!
Have a great week,
Senyai

Hi Senyai.
You're welcome. The consequences of the last election are really serious. I'll just keep praying.

Bravo, Senyai!
I adore your winter ode!
I smiled when I read your characterization of winter as being an "Ice Magician!" He surely practices his craft long and hard here in northern Michigan! :)
Congratulations!

This ode to winter, Ice Magician, presented with a 5-7-5 formatting, reminds us that winter can pull a blizzard out of its hat.

This is a unique way of looking at winter. I also like alliteration in the first and second lines and the rhyming. Ice Magician is a perfect way to conclude this poem.
Exceptionally done.

Brilliant! Not a word wasted--stunning imagery is spot-on for magician metaphor--a tour de force of alliteration in WH/WH and BBB. I peg this as a winner.

This is a great ode to winter, with great alliteration...ww and bb. I grew up in a cold climate, and the "Ice Magician" determined when he would enter, and how long he would stay. Your artwork pairs perfectly with your poem. Best wishes in the contest.
