Thank you for sharing. This is an interesting take on the Haiku format. Your poem is well written and successfully conveys the then and now. It's so sad. The picture supports your poem perfectly. Cheers Franky

A very nice and unique form. Short stuff usually doesn't grab me, but this one reached right out and took me by the throat. I identify exactly with the story line.

"Skipping Stones With Dad", is an extremely well-written and heart-wrenching piece. Life as I knew it has changed far too much and certainly too quickly. God bless you my never met friend.

your 12/5 Poem for Haiku Club
Skipping Stones With Dad
I will say is definitely an excellent new format for your haiku.
Do you mind if I give your new format for a haiku?
Gert

I really love your new form of poetry. This format works well with a number of different topics. This one, about your father in ICU having difficulty breathing, is poignant and sad. You remember skipping stones on a lake with him in your youth and, now, his heart is skipping beats, as he struggles to hold onto life. I feel for both of you, my friend. It is hard to watch a parent struggle in anything they do. This is excellently written and there is nothing I would change about this piece. Have a healthy and happy day,
Jesse

Very emotional post Gypsy! Skipping stones I did, but my father never was in ICU; he died at home.

Like your last line as it ably complements your photo.

Ohhhh this is so wonderfully heartfelt and well written. I love the first one. Its absolutely perfect. The shimmering stones sets up the reader for skipping stone.- brilliant.
The second one is also lively although sad. Nice tie in with heart skips a beat. Definitely deserving of a six.
Take care

I like the 12/5 style and your poem just took me on a life's journey from childhood until the present.
My dad isn't in the ICU, but he's at the age where anything could happen.
When the man in the poem felt his heart skip a beat, it immediately took him back to skipping those rocks, obviously a cherished memory for him.
Very powerful illustration of life between a father and son.

What a juxtaposition made perfect by the word 'skipping and skip.
Beautiful memories of pastimes spent with your father, and now the sadness of an ICU room where it is your heart that skips a beat.
Very few words tell a lifetime of stories when well chosen.

Warmly,

Juliette
