Ah, how did I miss this one?! A fantastic story "arc" woven into a web of cleverness. Sadly, Gert and Fred must have been stowaways once that rain came down in Biblical proportions--one of their posterity used to hang around my windowsill! Thanks for this gem. I never considered the spiders...

Thank you, Mama Baer. Yeah, nobody thinks of spiders--or the mosquitoes on Noah's vessel. It's a good thing jelly-fish can swim, because even Noah would have drawn the line there.
    Thanks again. Peace, Lee

Lee--Congrats on your prize for this gem! Glad I caught up to this brilliant bit of wit, whimsy, and wry humor. The Yiddish is hilarious--takes me back--my grandmother used many of those words. Cheers. LIZ

Thank you, Elizabeth. A hundred eyes have perused this story, and you're the first who knows how to spell 'petri'. Many thanks for the help and you fine review. Peace, Lee

This post is so creative, as is everything that you write. I love the idea of hearing the animal thoughts regarding their life on the ark. And who would have picked spiders but you. They work so cleverly even down to the Neurotic Order of Arachnid Haters. Now if Fred had bitten Noah, then that would have changed the story (and history) a lot.
I enjoyed it.

Lee,

hahahahaha I never considered the whole affair from the perspective of a couple of spiders on that ship. Interesting concept, to be sure.

I think you could write about anything...

To whit...

Write a story where a character has a popsicle and it's melting. And something dreadful may happen during that time --

Good luck!

Thank you, Robyn. Something dreadful always happens when a Popsicle melts--it falls off the sticks and onto the pavement. Sheesh, weren't you ever a kid?

    Peace, Lee

This is so funny. Who knew spiders spoke Yiddish? The whole set up is good including the elephants. It is a mitzvah to bring laughter to the world. Very appropriate picture, a well.

Hahaha, why not indeed. Let them talk as much Yiddish as they can, the more the the better. They, the Jews, have such as a wonderful humour as you clearly show here. This is a great take on Noah's ark. I love it, Lee. As usual you prove your talent. Ulla:)))

Oh boy. What an amusing original take on the animal's conversation prior to boarding the Ark. I am not Jewish, but have been exposed to enough Yiddish to understand and become familiar with most of the terminology. It was a wise and most welcome choice to go with Yiddish. It most certainly did add a bit more humor to the story. Well done.

I've seen pictures of the animals lining up outside Noah's ark. I wonder how he got them to do that. I also wonder how he found kangaroos and polar bears in that desert. One of the world's great mysteries. I'm sure those two spiders will have no trouble getting aboard, that is, if she doesn't eat his head.

Your using Yiddish was sheer genius as it made the story even more fun to read. Very funny creative dialogue of two spiders finding their way to the first cruise ship in the desert.
Perfection.

Mary

Have been away for a spell, opened my computer and there you were still plugging. Do enjoy your work, it proves being out there is not so bad. Got a good chuckle and that's not so bad. I am thinking to re right some of my postings ... read some and they just didn't click...also have some new stuff. Enjoyed the read.
