"Birds", is short, succinct and delightfully descriptive. Penned with craft and skill. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. Woven through each short line are the golden threads of truth.

You have made good use of your eight syllables in this expressive poem. Even if we read detailed explanations of how and why certain things happen in nature, we will still wonder why sometimes.

Thats a good question! I'm happy though when they finally fly low and sit on the trees so we can see. I love birds, they are so delicate and yet so strong. Best of luck in the contest. :)

This is a great poem because it rhymes so well and it has been written exactly as the rules ask. The other thing I like about it is the beautiful picture you have used for your illustration. Well done, Giddy

I must admit I envy birds their ability to fly so high, it must be absolutely marvellous up there! Beautifully written, an excellent rhyming 1/6/1 poetic entry, blessings Roy

This is an interesting form. I haven't tried it yet. As to why they fly so high, I think it's because it's their nature. (Pretend there is a smile emoji here). Eagles fly high, hummingbirds fly low. I think they would be in big trouble if they tried to switch around! I know it wasn't an actual question, I just had to add that bit. It's a charming poem and a lovely picture. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. My entry is not doing well yet. Do you know how to write a poem for a child? I know how to write one for a child and to a child.

I'm not great at writing things for children. I know that rhyme and rhythm appeals to children. Children like clever word play if it's not above their heads. It needs to be cheerful, I think. I've only written a couple poems for children so I'm not an expert.

Ha ha ha, the answer is to keep out of the way of us humans! Birds command the skies and know we cannot reach them up there and they are free when we are shackles to the earth, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Hi, do you know what it means to write a poem for a child? It says that in the children's rhyming poem contest.

The prompt is really tough! Hard to convey much with so few syllables but I think you did it well. I wish there was a little more to it and the general question kind of throws me off a bit
