This poem is truly cute and delightful. It would work well as a children's book with pictures of Emily doing cute things, or Penny training her. The story was clever, and the rhyming flowed smoothly. Best wishes in the contest.

Dear Mystery Writer,

What an adorable poem about an adorable puppy who finds the perfect family. *smile* Every time a puppy joins a family there are a few tiny growing pains - but it's always worth it. Dogs add so much to a family - so much love and fun and surprise and silliness. (I understand cats may do this, too? I have no idea - I am strictly a dog-kind-of-human. Though my family has had cats outside)

This is so cute and I have no doubt it will be really popular in the voting. And I have to think it has been a popular series, too - you say it's the ... sixteenth?? in the series? Way to go!!!

I have some notes for you. Just a few things to smooth out some rough spots. But remember that only you know what you want to do here. Use what you like (if anything) and toss the rest (or toss them all, if you like!) hahahaha

Notes:
1.) Penny Get's a Puppy (Your title)
--> (Gets) -->no apostrophe

2.) she must walk, feed, and bathe her pup(,) too(.)

3.) Emily whimpered that very first night(;)
it broke Penny's heart but it turned out (all right).

4.) Soon, Emily settled down on Penny's bed( . . .)
(f)ast asleep on her pillow, right next to her head.

5.) but (D)ad wasn't really angry at all.
--> when it's a direct reference, you cap it.

6.) Penny was happy to have Emily,
that she('d become) part of their family.

7.) Mom and (D)ad said, they both loved her(,) too,
--> but delete the comma after 'said'

I also love, love, LOVE (!!) the gif. Thanks a bunch and good luck!

Sounds delightful. Children will enjoy this one and will also learn to be sensitive to a pet's needs and caring. Lovely image. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

This is a nice story-poem for a child. You have rhyme and imagery and it tells a sweet story that children will like. I like the picture, too. Good luck in the contest.

A fun and well rhymed poem for the contest here as Penelope receives a new puppy to play with called Emily. A fun and uplifting children's poem, love Dolly x

The poem is consistent in rhyme. The theme is followed throughout. The language fits with the story. The presentation picture adds to the poem. It flows well and has a good pace.

Thanks for sharing. Good luck.

This is a perfect happy child's poem about getting a doggo. You did an excellent job with the rhyme scheme and I see no recommended changes. Great job!
