Nice poem for the poetry contest. Your poem reminds me of Habakkuk 3:17-19:
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.

Beautiful piece! I love reading your work. It flows so well, and the rhymes never feel forced. This is a bit random, but there is a song I like called, "Ya Heard." It's all about how sometimes "prayers never make it past the ceiling, much less the sky..." It has a great message, just like your poem! Sending prayers your way!

There are many like the Speaker who question whether God hears her prayers, yet knows an inner peace that convinces her He's there and "He always cares." Although I'll never be a fan of AABB rhyming, you handled it well in this poem. Rod

This is a really good poem with a lot of faith and hopefulness. But I do believe no prayer is unanswered, it's just that the answer is 'no' and God knows why. Prayer does give us a sense of peace and of hope. Best of luck (and blessings) in the contest.

I do love your poem. There are lines here and there I think you could tinker with a little bit to make them flow more smoothly. It's hard to cut out words and phrases that come to us so easily, but in the end, it really does help with flow. Clearly, you have the talent and know-how, given your poet ranking! Congrats btw.
