Excellent entry for the What A Mess! writing prompt contest. Your doggy made a mess, poor little guy. It's not his fault. I agree with you, better to leave him outside.

Thanks so much for the kind review Gypsy. You're right, we expect our pets to perform in ways we wouldn't expect of ourselves.
    Have a blessed day.

This is a very funny poem with excellent rhyme. The dog in the picture does look a bit guilty. I think it is an excellent entry for the competition.
Good luck and best wishes. Jen

Thanks so much for your kind review Jen. Yeah, that dog looked like it was guilty of something. Gotta love them though.

Good poem. Nice story. Good moral. I feel so sorry for your dad. We did that with our cat once. It took years, this is not an exaggeration, to get the smell of cat urine out of that basement. But you can't really put the cat out, can you?

Thanks for reviewing my piece. Yes, cat pee is some powerful stuff, even when it's outdoors. I love cats and dogs both, but I think cats win the prize in the urine department when it comes to offensive.

What a sensationally disgusting poem! That poor suffering dog, and then the awful job of having to clean up the mess, so humorously described in your poem. Kids find it highly entertaining when their parents can't cope with something - especially a task such as described.

Thanks so much for the review. For me the funniest part was the father's disgust with the kid not being able to do the job, and then him getting sick. Let's face it, if you don't get a little queasy doing something like that, you may not be normal.

This poem, Basement Disaster, combines the formula for the eventual basement catastrophe and the necessary clean up afterwards.

Hi Bill-thanks for reviewing. Basements can be unpleasant places to begin with, but to add the other to the mix would make one want to sell the house and leave.

Your What a Mess poem was had a nice rhyme. The story was one that I'm sure many dog owners have experienced. Cute artwork of a dog. Good luck in the Messy poem contest.

Thanks for reviewing my piece. It took awhile to find the right dog for the story. The one I chose looked like a character.

You rhyme and meter are very good and the imagery is unfortunately, also good! What a mess, indeed. However, that being said, it is a very bad idea to leave a dog all day without food and water and a bathroom break if it hasn't been trained to hold it. Poor pooch. I bet the father thinks twice before doing so again!

Ha poor dog and poor dad! What a nightmare. We always kept our dog inside but we never had to deal with that. Thanks for sharing this very funny piece and have a great day

Thank you Oliver. While this is a fiction story, it was based somewhat on what a friend told me. Poetic justice I guess.
You have a great day as well.

Oh dear, dogs don't like being left alone and in a basement full of clothes then he would soon cause havoc as he did in your well rhymed story here, a fun write, love Dolly x
