What I enjoyed most about the beautifully expressed poem was the imagery I saw and the music and woeful sounds I heard as late autumn gives way to winter. The entire poem gave depth to the first line of the poem. Wonderful overall presentation.

This is a fine Autumnal write filled with all the melancholy of goodbyes as creatures disappear to escape the forthcoming winter months, much enjoyed, well rhymed and metered, fine well chosen words and a fine entry for the contest, a winner for me, love Dolly x

I really like this poem. It is so lyrical and your imagery is lovely. I like the picture as well. This is my favorite verse:

t's in the whistle of the wind,
the doleful trill of Nature's flute
played wistfully across the roofs,
'tween limbs of trees, a treble toot.

Good luck in the contest.

Autumn's song - we hear it in the trees and from the birds, bringing a feeling of peace to our hearts. Summer is past, these days of Autumn are a cheerful interlude before winter.

Indeed we are hearing Autumn's song where I live, too. The trees are just changing and I am enjoying what we call Indian Summer. Many thanks, Anne, for sharing my poem. Rod

A real autumnal ambiance is created here with the sounds and sights and activities in nature taking hold as the natural world winds down to its dormant season - so atmospheric - I loved the final stanza

I wish I had a six for it. I love autumn, it's my favorite season, I was born in October, and I adore autumn's rainbow splendor.

Incredible imagery and visuals and I love your artwork. Songs are harder to write than regular poetry, and you did a splendid job with it.

Good luck in the contest.

Beautiful, yes somehow the critters do sense the changing of seasons, I really like the way you give the reader a story in your poem of the slow decline of the wonderful songs these critters treat us too, an excellent read, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

I love the descriptive nature of this gem of a poem, that rings beauty's bell, and stirs the innocence hidden the wind the blows, and it's gentle sound as it speaks the language of the gift creation is. Written in great language, walks off the page and dallied in the soul. Well done, beautifully written good luck, blessings Roy

This is an outstanding poetry about autumn! I enjoy the adjectives you put in like trill, innately, russet, etc. I really like the second stanza:
It's in the whistle of the wind,
the doleful trill of Nature's flute
played wistfully across the roofs,
'tween limbs of trees, a treble toot.

Keep up the good work!
