A moving and emotional poem, for sure, and one that many will be able to relate to. Who has not had a friend confide his/her hurt and betrayal, and not felt a similar response to what is so aptly described in these lines? Anyone having shared this experience would know exactly what you're describing. Well done, with excellent rhyming and meter too. One typo... Women in stanza six should be spelled woman. Betrayal is the worst heartache. When you put your pen to paper you can write what you believe and be relieved of how you feel. No one wants someone who has betrayed another human being; it is the wrong way to get what they want. If you love someone, how can you hurt that person?

This is a very well written poem. It rhymes well and has and has excellent meter. Your imagery is also very vivid and poignant. It reminds me of my mother standing aside when I was heartbroken because there was nothing she could do to make me feel better. She was there and that was enough. Good luck in the contest.

A great poem for this contest. Our hearts feel for one who is going through something like this, but there are not words to say to ease their pain. Each one has to face their problems, and find a way to rise above them.

It is a very nice compassionate poem dedicated to the dear friend who was hurt by her significant other. I liked your rhyming, imagery and visuals. I can sense despair and helplessness in your lines - alas, we can't always help people we care about.
I didn't understand why you had to repeat the first stanza in its entirety. I would understand if this was a single line which a refrain or the necessary repeating for a particular poetic form. But I can't get it here.
