This senryu, Not Really Funny, presented as a 5-7-5, gives an example of all of the unwanted children left to be raised the system in Texas.

This is an attempt at making the best of a bad situation. It become a tragicomedy. The reader will be able to identify and will agree. Well thought out.

This is a sad write as it conjures up loneliness, poverty and doom. We have no choice when we are born and hope to rise above all these things, some do, some don't, a poignant write, love Dolly x

You have written the sad reality of far too many little babies. We can make a difference. Thanks for bringing this sad reality to the fore. Embrace the love from above.

I think we all hold a connection to our mothers no matter where they are or hold we get. Only natural I guess. Hugs to you. Thank you for sharing your 'not so funny' poem about your own yearning

You did a good job with your contest entry, Mystery Author. I really enjoyed the end rhymes. The art is a good pairing with your words, too. Good job with the syllable count per line.

I can see 'one thing' being replace as 'something', I know your work, your choice.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

I'm a sucker for mommy missing poetry. My mom passed away and I miss her heaps. I take it this person in your poem does miss their mom too. Mother's are amazingly strong and resilient in my experience and in need of more notice and praise, and high fives

Aww .Your poem makes me feel so sad for your past . Childhood is so important and when you get robbed of it it can cause so much anguish in your life .To say you were unwanted but still miss your Mom the mom you thought of in your head who was she what does she look like do I look like her and the longing to just actually meet this person / mom you dream of must have been so hard .I hope you found peace in your childhood.God Bless you and thank you so much for sharing !
