Indeed, many people make sayings throughout their life, which makes an outstanding characteristic when creating a character. Although hearing it too often, you might want to punch the guy in the nose. Good writing.

Nicely done, and I'd have been very disappointed if you'd ended the story any other way. Sometimes using a catchphrase becomes so second-nature to a person that they don't even realize it's become a catchphrase - until someone throws their own phrase back at them, as Arthur did to Billy. This is a very real and believable - and certainly relatable - story.
