Thankssssss, Jeff. Looking forward to it!

As to Chuck's classmate--the gist was true, the specifics were fabricated.

As to my citation for error--that did happen--she thought it was wrong to use possessives--many people do, alas--you can't win--right or wrong, someone will surely cite the "error." As I admit, possessives sound and look odd!

Hi Liz,
Danny ... his mother should have known that slackers are also liars. He's the kind of kid who would bring a dog turd to school and tell the teacher, "The dog ate my homework!" The D- looks good on him, but his mother could have saved herself a lot of anguish.
I bet Danny went on to university, and is now working in an office googling his female co-workers.
Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

This is a really amusing story, although I didn't quite follow your early part of the story, probably because I am still confused by some grammar rules, which change from one style book to another.

Indeed rules change. Alas, the majority rules, right or wrong.

This work was so painfully delightful I found myself laughing out loud, and shaking my head in shame for making similar infractions. I found nothing to adjust or correct (wink). This is absolutely and excellent short work. Thanks for the smile.

I think you might have been taught grammar during the same era as I was, Liz, although a few years later. The things you've pointed out used to be drilled into our brains, and now many of them are cast as incorrect. I can imagine that might be what happened when the mother wrote the paper for her son. The teacher was probably closer in age to the student, not the mother. lol Well written and entertaining.

Yup, it all depends on when and where we were taught.

This is funny but I'll the mother was miffed at the teacher and Danny probably didn't get any further help with his homework. It wouldn't help either of them.

The mother's lack of punctuation must have taught him not to repeat that mistake. Could be that the teacher would have guessed it is the mothers work...

As usual, a very interesting and funny story, but I hear you. Dealing with grammar has been a frustrating experience for me too, but high-school grammar and stickler teachers are from another universe altogether :-)

I wonder how many bestselling authors would still pass a high-school grammar test!

Oh. Tough crowd! I just bet that teacher saw clear through the ruse. Danny's writing would likely have been familiar to her/him. Nice message to "mom" to stop enabling!

In any event, both deserved the D-minus!

Hi Liz,

Hahahahaha! Yes, mom not up to snuff and not functioning at grade level! Last time he ever asked her for help...serves this lazy Danny right. Think she did that on purpose? I do and I would do it to my son if he slacked off lol.

Enjoy your short, curt always entertaining works. Brightens my day, immensely, Liz. Thanks for that!

Always,
Senyai
