I can always rely on you for a laugh when I most need it. I once wrote a paper for my 6th-grade son, who was in gifted classes - but lazy at times.
The teacher wrote on it..Mrs. Long, you undoubtedly now know as much about mountains as a geologist, but Morgan knows more about punctuation...I never wrote another one.

As to my citation for error--that did happen--she thought it was wrong to use possessives--many people do, alas--you can't win--right or wrong, someone will surely cite the "error." As I admit, possessives sound and look odd!

Maybe Danny's mother was purposely sending him the message that from now on, he should do his own work. You're really steamed up about grammar and punctuation these days. There's always a difference between what we say and what is grammatically correct usage. judi

Some times listening to you frustration about the editor I am beginning to wonder if she is being unnecessarily picky.
As for Danny mom it was years since she went to school and like all of us forgot many of the rules. But Danny and her deserved the D.

This definitely was an interesting topic, Elizabeth. There were some deep thoughts shared between Chuck and yourself. Especially the story of Danny and his mother. I think the picture of the Spiraling Gumball Machines was rather appropriate.

Back when my brain was fully focused (or at least I thought it was) I stayed up many hours working o my daughter's term papers. She had five children, a full-time job, and was trying to finish her master's degree. Must say I did okay...especially since I wasn't the one studying the topics... but I certainly would never ever attempt it again. I think I would get the same response as Danny. LOL

LOL I do understand. When I was teaching my first graders past tense verbs, I discovered their parents didn't have a clue. Their parents first language was Ebonics and normal English grammar isn't part of it.
