Your post is interesting though t's fiction, it has some truth to it. I don't use the possessive as you stated before the 'ing' verbs. To me, that use sounds wrong. I believe some of the changes made in punctuation for example come from common usage of the wrong way. Danny's mother did him a disservice by writing his paper. She deserved the D- and Danny deserved everything he got.

Isn't that the way it goes. How something is perceived has as much, or more, to do with the reader as it does with the writer. There are times when my whole page would be covered in red ink, most of the time. But not everyone give me the three I probably deserve. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds about right. Those who are grammatically correct often sound stilted, therefore writers oft disregard and write vernacular of their audience.
The piece is written using vernacular and reads well. The pace is good. The words are conversational and warm. The ending is amusing.

Yes, punctuation is always a trick. Sometimes I think just liberally sprinkle them and see what people say.
