I loved this family tradition but I did wonder whether it was a fictional story. It is the sort of thing that could very easily be a true story. But we'll never know will we? Not in this secretive family.

This is great!!! I read with amusement as the story unfolds, the perpetrator begins the day with a ritual I had never even heard of!! I laughed to myself even though it is early in the morning!! This is fun and entertaining!!
I had a wooden spoon of sorts so I will consider this secret game as I grow young!

What a funny story, but very precious, just loved this. Our wooden spoon was brought out as a fitting punishment for others to be used for disciplining, but not for blessing the bed of the various "blessed" ones, well done. Great story, Blessings Roy

Charming story. I can imagine this happening--harmless prank but a bit of a let-down given nobody ever acknowledged giving or receiving THE SPOON. Good thing it wasn't a fork.

Yes, I really have no idea why it even became a "thing". There were other practical jokes that were actually quite funny. Maybe it's a quirky family! It always amused them to discuss it much later -"Was it you who put it there when ...." or "I saw you sneak out and put it away that time when ..." Thanks so much for reviewing my less than dramatic story, much appreciated!

What an odd family 'tradition'. Our family liked pranks to be obvious so all could share in the laughter at someone's expense. Maybe that was more cruel than your inoffensive spoon appearances. This is a well told tale, and shows the importance of sharing humorous moments to bond family members and include new additions to the family.

Yes, I think this family must be a little bit quirky. There were plenty of other practical jokes which actually were funny. I don't know why this spoon keeps doing the rounds every so often!
