Well, it's making me smile here on Monday night. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Christmas presents might come in the form of heat so we won't freeze and gas so we can still go to work for another week. When all of our money has been taken by inflation, we'll all have to be paid to stay home. This is the worst year ever! The best gift the president could give the nation for Christmas would be for him to resign and take vice president what's her name and Pelosi with him!! Merry Christmas to us!!! Good luck with the contest!

Your great reply Trumps all the others! But, they have been great, too. What is interesting about this poem for me is that almost none of the reviews dealt with my rhyme or time or style or anything about the poem, but only about the message - in general agreement! (BTW - one review yesterday educated me on "acrostic" - somebody might have been reviewing while drinking...) Anyway, I believe America is coming back! Happy Thanksgiving!

Just so you know. An acrostic is a poem where the first letter of each line spells out a word, usually the title. Sponsor also requires rhyme, which is not usually the requirement for an acrostic. Sponsor is screening this contest herself, but if you enter acrostics elsewhere on this site, be aware her instructions are not those usually required for an acrostic.

Hey, they can't all be jolly. But, I have to say, you placed a a good deal of current things we have to settle and we aren't going to fix anything by pretending they don't exist. That will actually make them worse. Good idea for the contest. Changes things up.

Very interesting comments on these times: 2 of 4 comments have supportive comments about my view of the current situation, but no comment about how I wrote the poem. I find that encouraging that people are taking note of our predicament! Let us stand together and fight what they are doing to us! God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving

With the way the country is being run, we're all in trouble. haha. Inflation, yes - but I think the main thing about holidays is family, like everyone says. As long as I have my kids with me, McDonalds is fine. :)

I apologize for no six for this piece. I appreciate your outrageous sense of humor and glad you still possess it. We must laugh or we'll cry, right? Still, Thanksgiving is here and I will celebrate even with a can of SPAM if it comes to that. (It's really good sauteed in maple syrup.) God bless you and your family despite the current leaders, hell bent on our demise. Do they realize what Thanksgiving is all about? I really doubt it....
