I like the sentiment of your work. However, the rhyming scheme of abab aabb throws the pace of reading off a bit. I think this could be a sixxer with a minor tweak to rhythm pattern. Good luck in the contest.

You are probably correct. But I did not want the piece to be to sing song. So I varied the pattern, it may have been a mistake. Thanks for your feedback.

Your descriptions are wonderful and I love each detail placed right on this post! I cannot find anything wrong with this so, I will not be giving suggestions. Boy this reminds me of when I was little and we'd drive to Grandma and Grandpa's house for Thanksgiving. It was a three hour drive. We'd leave early in the morning or sometimes the night before and spend the night. I can still picture the house Grandma and Grandpa, aunts and uncles and cousins. That house was so full of laughter and love. You brought all of that back to me by your poem. God bless you! Good luck with the contest.
