Wendy - This is a GREAT story. I believe that it has the potential for a TV show. You might want to explore that. Hope you a wonderful Thanksgiving - Jerry

I truly enjoyed reading about Judy and Missy. Its truly a family love story. There's a lot of love that a dog and owner give each other. The companionship they give each other is priceless! Good luck with the contest.

What a wonderful story which is nonfictional. Loved reading the gentle love that was extended to a dog. And a very bright dog indeed as she saved a lady from lying outside with an ankle break.

Thank you so much Rosemary. Lovely review! (Most of the story is in fact fiction, but I did know an old lady, an art teacher, who waited fifty years to get a dog.)

This is a beautiful story, very well written and easy to read. Shows how even if we don't have children of our own, we can create a family. I like how Judy chose the dog, after her husband was gone, and that it proved to be just what she needed.

This is a beautiful story. I loved the warm, loving grandma and was delighted when she finally rescued a dog. Missy was a hero indeed. You told this story very well. It will be a Favorite in this contest I am sure.

This is a lovely family story, perfect for this contest. I like that after Judy's husband died, she adopted a dog to create a new family for herself. I think if I'm every alone again, this time I will find a way to adopt a dog. Good luck in the contest, Wendy.

Thank you so much Judy for a lovely review and good wishes. I appreciate both very much. Dogs with their loyalty and love can certainly reduce grief and loneliness - and definitely are part of a family unit.

This story, The Extended Family, is just a lovely tale that opens up my frosty old heart and makes a place there for a dog named Missy. Neat.

OMG!! I cannot believe that Missy was gone what a sad and tragic end!! I had difficulty with the length of this story yet I read through it faithfully. So long was this piece that I had to skip several parts of it...I am sorry, my friend I know not what else to say. But I loved the picture and meaning of this tale and I am glad you are up and posting yet again! Take good care of yourself, my dear dear friend,
Jesse

Hi Jesse, Thank you for your review, I do appreciate it. The story was meant to be around that length for the contest. However Missy was fine - the empty chair was her husband's chair, and she was talking to the empty chair like she used to do after her husband first died. It was like her telling her husband that Missy was brave and loving and had helped her - and she was pointing out that he would have loved Missy if he had ever accepted having a dog in the family. Nevertheless thank you so much for the six stars, which I always value. Take care, and look after yourself well.

This is an endearing story and I would love a dog myself, I have never owned one and because of my lifestyle it is impossible, but reading stories like this lift my spirits Wendy, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
